Thanks in advance! Congratulations on a good GMAT score. Your GMAT score is just one of the many variables that admissions consider in the application process. The other aspects being, your work profile and career progression, post MBA goals, the diversity you bring to a class and whether you would benefit from the b-school just as much as the school will benefit having you. As your profile looks interesting, you definately have a chance at these schools. Though you must remember that the admissions team will look for examples of leadership experiences (and not technical examples), so you must talk about your managerial capabilities in the essays/ SoPs. Indian b-schools value extra-curricular experiences, but are not very particular about it. So if you can show strength in other aspects, you would still have a fair chance. Hope that helps.

Thanks MBAhelp. I will definitely work on other factors which are needed for getting into those schools. But my point is that GMAT score should be out of the equation for the schools i have listed in my original qsn. I do not want my GMAT score to be a border line case and other factors trying to cancel the demerits of average gmat score. So, my qsn was that is 730 a good score for those colleges or it should be improved to say 750/760

Yes, Your GMAT score is good enough. It is on par with or probably slightly above the average score of IIMA PGPX class. It is surely much higher than the average GMAT score of IIMB EPGP class. FYI, Average GMAT score of IIMB EPGP class is about 700.

Hi Paddyrao,
Well, if you are aiming for the PGPX at IIMA, 730 seems to be their average score. But then scoring a 760 itself is not a tad bad. All you need to do is showcase your international experience and leadership skiils (onsite positions and responsibilities held) will help tilting the scale in your favour.
For ISB, the average is more or less in the range of 705-710. So your score is way above it. However, all said and done, my experience with ISB has been that they are either looking for people with exceptional achievements or with significant international experience.
So in that case, your candidature suits ISB as well.
Do let me know in case you need any help with anything else.
Cheers.. Anubhav

I agree with all of you. Your profile is impressive. GMAT: Your GMAT score is slightly above the average score for ISB.(710) Work Ex: Your work exp. is more than their average WE ( 5 years) Academic Ability: In addition to good GMAT, you have demonstrated your academic ability by your brilliant performance in undergrad International Experience: You also boast of significant international experience - almost 3 years in the US and 4 months in Europe Achievements: You have won awards for your performance in the Company, so I assume you will have impressive accomplishment stories to share. Extra Curricular - What ever extra curricular activities experience you have , it can be highlighted in essays emphasizing their significance Leadership/Managerial Exp- You have held leadership responsibilities leading to significant outcomes, so you will select those stories for your essays Career -Your career shows progression To sum up, your candidacy is good for ISB. All you need to do is to put in your best effort to showcase it in your essays and resume. I hope it helped. Poonam
