it sucks that that happened. i think you shouldve done the test in 3 months instead of 5. Did you not know about the national holiday or didn't know they close on that day? it is weird them letting you schedule on a day they close... Keep focusing on verbal and good luck

It was my bad luck on 1st Oct. In India there was a 60 year old pending case running between 2 cummunities and the verdict from High Court came on 30th Sept' 2010. For security reason there was a nation wide holiday declared on 30th Sept evening. Though most of the MNC's were open on 1st Oct , almost all the schools and colleges were closed.

I guess God had planned everything bad to happen on time for me.

After a reschedule on 1st Oct , I have never imagine such a bad thing to happen on my new date on 11th Oct.

The most weird thing is that the software update started at 8:30am in morning so should it was the duty to the centre in charge to inform all the scheduled students about the possible delay. I dont know GMAC takes soo much of money and never bothers to inform anyone before hand.

I am filing a complaint to GMAC about this incident and if they can upgrade their process to inform all the scheduled candidates about any deviation/problem in test center then atleast others can definately avoid such a frustrating situation. Only I can imagine how it feels waiting in test center for 3 nd half hours sitting on a bench , witnessing such a disaster to happen after 5 months of dedicated practice.

I have to apply this year only and cannot let my career suffer and waste whole 1 year due to this. I'll recollect my shattered confidence , 'll consolidate my self and will not give luck any chance this time around.

yeah i think it's about average. you can't really expect to re-perform your best at the actual test center. the average is probably the best indicator of how you'll really do, besides the GMATprep.

Not a bad score. You are easily in that 690 or 700 dot. I saw your last awa - I believe your writing skills are awesome ! I think it takes more than just concentration to scale above 700. Its stamina to be alert until the 41st question of the verbal section. I think take some time off studies, go on a road trip and come back fresh.

Hi Shaselai ,

I want to apply in 2nd round of ISB, so don't have much leisure time. I have already jotted down my plans for next 1 month and will be striking in a months time. Afterwards I have only 15 days to complete my application.

Yesterday I have filed a complaint in GMAT head-office about the incident. I'll get a reply in couple of days. On the test day , there was a girl who took the test and faced the same fate. She has also filed a complaint. So we are planning to follow up collectively. Even if no positive outcome gets out of it, I will be having a point to defend myself in interviews for retaking my GMAT. If I score well this second time then during the interviews I can provide the details about this complaint.

This time around no messing up. I have got Manhattan Set of Books on Google books and will give my best shot.

By the way Shaselai, you have also improved a lot in your retake. I was not able to find your success story. If possible please also guide me with verbal improvement strategy.

hey,
i just took knewton. I think it helped me because of another way to intake the information. I think just reading the books didnt click for me on verbal - having another person explain thing clicked for me - at least on the basic concepts. Maybe you can try a tutor or someone really good with verbal to help?
