Unless you have a compelling reason to go to either one, which it seems like you don't, I would go to the one that's less expensive. Pepperdine is ranked #81 in US News, and USD is outside of the top 101 (unranked). So maybe on that basis Pepperdine is a better choice. I believe they do have a pretty decent network in Southern California as well.

If you're looking to move up the rankings a little but don't have stellar stats, maybe consider applying to UC Irvine?

If those are the only two schools you are considering, I feel that Pepperdine is better choice. Pepperdine is ranked 65 by Poets and Quants, and USD is outside of the top 100. They both have really nice campuses; so that's kind of a draw. If you can get over 700 on the GMAT, it might be worthwhile to look at UCLA and USC. They are both generally considered much better programs than Pepperdine and USD and are in SoCal. UCLA's campus is really nice too.

If those are your only two choices, I would go with Pepperdine. Their Malibu campus is gorgeous, lol.

After listening to the dean of USD (former asst dean of Tuck SOB) I feel they have an advantage. I found there full time program is fairly new and has only been eligible for rankings for one year. He mentioned how they have acquired some top faculty, whom have Wharton phds, and I feel they have a good chance at making a name for themselves in the future. I also thought the USD campus was beautiful!
