Sorry to hear but welcome to this thread. Seems like Stern wailisted quite a lot of candidates both last year and this year. Good luck to all of us.

I'm in here as well. Re-applicant and wait-listed without interview in R1. Have submitted a letter and additional reference thus far. Will compose another essay over the coming weeks and submit in early April if there is no movement on their end. :|

Anyone have any comments on waitlisted without interview versus waitlisted after the interview.

I know Haas encourages the applicant waitlisted without interview to self-initiate an interview, however, I don't think Stern does this. Based on reviewing of last year's WL posts, the earliest movement in the waitlist pool was around May. So hang in there and there's still chance!

Hi all! Was waitlisted last week w/o interview (R2)... My GMAT score is 650, any ideas on whether I should re-take it?

Yes I would re-take if I were you. 650 is definitely at the low end of gmat scores. Good luck!

Hi All,

R2 waitlisted with interview about two weeks ago.

I missed a call from NYU at about 3:30 on Thursday and was not able to actually connect with anybody when I called back - not sure where this is just a follow-up, or good news. I will likely have to turn down the offer if it comes as I just recently learned NYU's international loan program is only for $20,000.

hey mcaruana, did you submit any additional information/recommendations? or did they just reach out to you out of the blue?
Good luck with the interview! :-D

Hey djslobo,

I wrote a letter to the adcoms about three weeks after I was placed on the waitlist, and followed that up with an additional letter of recommendation two weeks later. Below is a post I had made on another forum that goes more in depth about what I did and what my thought process was. I hope this is helpful and best of luck to everyone still waiting!

-----
Thank you gtmba. I am not sure if I did anything special, but really just made sure that whatever contact I made with the school was thoughtful and reflected the weaknesses in my application.

After I was placed on the waitlist, I reviewed my application and found that the two things I did not put enough focus on were student life and how I could impact an organization. For the former, I took a day off from work and took a trip down to campus (I live in Boston), where I was able to catch up with a former coworker who also had gotten into NYU off the waitlsit and get a better feel for campus life. I then wrote a letter to the adcoms about that experience as well as a recent info session I was able to attend with a Stern alum.

To address the latter, I had the volunteer coordinator of the group I volunteer with write a letter to the adcoms on my behalf, citing the contributions I had made to the organization and the kids we work with. I spaced both of these contacts about three weeks apart (my letter was submitted mid-march and the coordinator's letter this past Friday).

I hope that this is helpful for you and for anyone else who is on the waitlist. I wish you all the best of luck. I am excited to have the opportunity to go interview and I hope I can make the most of the opportunity.
