Candidates from non-traditional backgrounds always join MBA programs. I believe, teachers possess strong leadership skills as they take charge of classroom activities, lectures, class discussions, group activities etc. A good teacher always motivates her/ his students, draws out the best in them, and boosts their self esteem . She/ he not only teaches them text book material, but also acts as their guide and counselor. Also, teachers are actively involved in activities out side of classroom - arranging field trips, organizing house activities, chairing meetings etc.
So you see teachers have a plethora of activities that they can draw upon in their MBA essays as they possess variety of skills that B-schools are looking for in candidates. I have been a teacher for many many years , so I can say this from my experience.
I hope it helped.
