OG can not help you build concepts; it is just for practice.
Use either Kaplan or MGMAT guides to work on your concepts. My suggestion will be: MGMAT guides for Quant, MGMAT SC Guide, PowerScore CR Bible. No Suggestions for RC as the material/approach to be taken is highly subjective to the individual preparing for GMAT.

I’ll keep my debrief very short and precise.

• Started my preparation in January.
• Spent around 50 days to build concepts: almost 15 days each for RC, CR, and SC.
• Focused on accuracy and PoE in verbal. Analysis of why an answer choice is incorrect helped build concepts and another benefit was that I started to notice patterns in the answer choices after some time.
• Did not focus much on Quant.
• After going through the concepts, I started to give MGMAT mock exam once every week and spent couple of hours analyzing the incorrect answer choices in each mock and slowly reduced the number of silly errors and tweaked the timing.
• Studied for around 90 minutes everyday and took long breaks. Gave enough time for concepts to sink in.
• Once I started to give mocks, did not study any new concepts except for in those areas where I was making mistakes.
• Did not participate much in the forums because a lot of those questions tend to show up later in mock exams and inflate the score.
• Did not study anything for a week prior to actual GMAT.
• Did not study IR at all (I hope I get at least a 4 or 5).
• Quant on real GMAT was much harder than that in GMATPrep and OG12.
• SC on real GMAT was much more meaning based. Almost half of the SC questions I faced had at least 2 grammatically correct answer choices.
• RC and CR were of difficulty level in GMATPrep Question Pack1 and MGMAT hard questions.


Materials used:
• e-GMAT Online RC, SC, CR – These audio visual presentations gave me strong foundation in CR and SC.
• OG12 (did this book once)
• OG VR2 (did all questions except RC)
• GMATPrep Question Pack1 (most helpful resource)
• Did not use any unofficial material. Did not use even Manhattan SC book.


Mock exam results:
17-Mar-2013 - MGMAT1 - 650 (Q43 V36)
31-Mar-2013 - MGMAT2 - 660 (Q44 V36)
06-Apr-2013 - MGMAT3 - 700 (Q45 V40)
17-Apr-2013 - GMATPrep1 - 730 (Q49 V41)
22-Apr-2013 - MGMAT4 - 680 (Q42 V40)
27-Apr-2013 - GMATPrep2 - 750 (Q49 V42)

Congratulations....and thanks for the details..would be greatly helped if you could elaborate more on the strategies regarding SC taken by you..and what are the pros and cons of those strategies, you felt, while giving the actual gmat exam?

Unless you have a lot of time to spend, I would suggest staying away from multiple sources and those lengthly notes for SC/grammer concepts. Following are the steps I used to solve SC questions:

[*] First and Most important step is to understand the meaning. Sometimes you may have to read the sentence without modifiers and adjectives to understand the true meaning.
[*] Look for parallelism, Verb, Tense errors in the original sentence
[*] Look for other misc. errors
[*] Eliminate the incorrect answer choices one by one

What I felt during the exam and during the mocks was that knowing the meaning of the sentence really helps arriving at the correct answer choice. Keep in mind that in real GMAT, most of the difficult SC questions will have more than one grammatically correct answer choice and you will be able to select the correct answer only if you know the meaning of the sentence.

Good thing is that most of the difficult questions have multiple errors and that makes it easier to solve those questions.

@ sumeetkarora, I cannot agree with you more. It is so important to follow this process. I remember during my prep while I was still working on SC accuracy, whenever I would skip a step or two in this process, I would get that question wrong.

Congratulations Sumeet...How did you come up with this method of solving SC questions? I actually spent last 1 week on SC and I automatically started with the underlined portion and the answer choices But your method seems good. actually i will try anything that will get me to mark corect answers. Do share your secret Sumeet.

If you focus only on the underlined portion of the sentence, you are going to be in big trouble while solving questions of even medium difficulty. A lot of times the underlined portion is a correct entity in itself but does not go well when placed in a complete sentence. Unless you read the entire sentence, dissect it, and understand the intended meaning you can not really fix the sentence.

Hey congrats bro
I don't have much issues with quant but verbal is too tuff for me
One thing I want to ask that are real gmat rc questions are of same difficulty level as that of OG???
Nd same question for quant while comparing it with gmat prep software questions

Please shed some light on the incorrect type answer choices in RC and if possible please put on a brief on how to handle RC with the concepts you followed.
