Hi,
I am an officer in the US Army preparing to apply to business school this summer/fall.
I graduated from West Point in 2010 with a BS in Economics with a 3.81 GPA. I took the GMAT in November scoring a 710 (47Q, 41V, 7 IR, 6 AWA). I did retake in January scoring a 700 (49Q, 37V, 6 IR, 5.5 AWA) so I am done taking the test.
At time of application I will have 5 years of work experience directing teams of up to 20 Soldiers in combat. My community service stretches from my youth as a Eagle Scout to very active involvement in college and now in my church to include a 2 year full-time mission to Southeast Asia from 2006-2008.
My current plan for applications is as follows:
Round 1:
Harvard, Columbia, Wharton, Duke, Haas
Round 2:
Chicago, Kellogg
I am interested in going into mgmt consulting post-MBA at Bain, BCG, McKinsey, Deloitte...
Interested in your opinion on my school choices and my degree of competitiveness for each.
Many thanks.
G
Dude, basically you are good - West point with amazing grades + a 710 + real leadership int he military... shooooooooot (to euphamise senator clay davis)
From here on, we are talking about extras (volunteer work, sports, good family etc.)
The only other things that will really matter are of course your application materials, so that's your next step. But you definitely are off on the right foot,
Best,
