I don't know about that.... because essentially both statements are the same as far as "average" speed of both each car is specified.

So I vote for D.

D is my choice of best answer.

They meet after 2 hours and till they met A's speed was 55 do 55*2 = 110

Average speed = 70 so in 2 hours 140 hence D

I would think that the answer would be A.

Statement1 : SUFF as explained by others

Statement 2: NOT SUFF. Here the average speed for the ENTIRE TRIP is given. That means average speed of B was 70 until B reached the starting position of A. This does not mean that B's speed averaged 70 when they met. What if B averaged a speed of 20 during the first TWO hours and then averaged some other speed for the remaimder of the trip in such a way that the average speed for the entire trip is 70. In this case A would be farther from the point of start. So NOT SUFF

I guess it depends on how we take the words "ENTIRE TRIP". If we take it as trip from B to A's location then the answer would be A.

If we take that just as a trip from the start to the point where they met then the answer would be D.

Personally I think we should consider the first meaning. and the answer should be A.

Any thoughts?

Remember, when you are given average speeds between two points, this only represents the "constant speed needed to travel a particular distance in a particular time". What actually happens between those two points is anyone's guess. It would be relatively easy to set up various scenarios where A and B meet all along the route given only the constrainst of (2) and the stimulus. Hence IMO A is the answer.
