Found my old post:

Quote:
So, here we are at the end of Sept. I went back and found the first file I could find that I'd worked on.

I started on 7/06. Man does that seem like a long time ago.

In that time I've:

Created 48 revisions of my resume
Created 98 revisions of my Harvard essays
Created 32 revisions of my Kellogg essays
Created 36 revisions of my Chicago essays

So where am I now?

It took me 12 weeks to do 3 schools.

Twelve weeks, 60 workdays and 12 Sundays. I put in about 2-3 hours a night on workdays, and 6-7 on sundays. That means that so far, I've put in about 200-250 hours into this.

Thats mind boggling isn't it?

The good thing is I'm getting faster at it. Harvard took me a month and a half. Kellogg 3 weeks. Chicago 3. Maybe I can get it down to two weeks per school!

If round #1 is not positive then

Chicago and Michigan

Do those dates work though? HBS gets back to you on Jan 17, Kellogg on Jan 7. When is the deadline for GSB r2?

They don't but will have a fair idea at least depending on the interview invites.

P.S.: Read your profile. Looks great. HBS and Stanford are great fits for you.

Thanks but HBS has not sent an interview invite, and to be honest, im not sure I can expect one. I didnt even bother with Stanford. A 3.0 GPA and 730 GMAT aren't good enough.

This is one of the rare occasions that I would have to disagree with you about Stanford.
Check out the Stanford dean's video on the site below.

Stanford accepts a broad range of scores, most importantly your profile seems to have what they are looking for.

As for HBS I would not be too concerned. They are yet to fill the diversity seats. With your international background, you would definitely fit in that category.
I am almost tempted to bet some money on you getting an HBS invite.

Oh my GOD!!! You deserve to get in just for the effort you put into applying! By the way, read your post on 10 errors appl. essays. Good stuff!

Also, at first I thought I am not applying to enough schools (to make sure I get in somewhere) but now I think I may have to cut some out just to get done on time (R2)

I think I owe you a drink either way for providing all the info on here but most importantly keeping the morale of everyone here up.

I've been getting terse on my essay reviews lately - I'm probably making some people feel like crap. I've really ripped apart a few in the last few days. I promise you someone on here probably hates me by now. :)

If dinged by GSB on 12/20 I will also apply to Ross and Duke in R2.

I will be applying to:

Definite:
Berkeley
Michigan
Columbia
Wharton
UCLA
Chicago

Probable (if I can muster the enthusiasm):
Stanford
Kellogg
Duke

Possible (If I continue to be scared and pessimistic):
Cornell
Darden

I have also been tempted by schools (Simon, Katz, UC Davis, Boston U. and about a dozen others) that have offered to waive their application fees. Why am I so scared?
