At the Tuck event I met a guy who turned down HBS and another who choose it over Wharton and CBS. People do turn down the big schools because of fit. I dont think either of them regretted their decisions. I think one was in PE and one was in IM.

bherr: well, we only have Haas overlap, so not too bad. Chicago will depend on whether I like the campus or not after a visit.

Yes, Harvard is the main reason Stanford loses people, but like NC said, some people will choose another school over Stanford due to location. One interesting thing I heard from a Haas student is they have people who choose Haas over Kellogg, Chicago, HBS, Wharton, Columbia, but NONE chose Haas over Stanford. Very interesting tidbit.

could be because Stanford has everything similar or a little better compared to Haas? (I mean brand, location, class size, entrepreneurship etc..)

Bingo! Other than cheaper in-state tuition, Stanford does have everything slightly better than Haas.

This reminds me of film stars in cinema field in my region ;)

There is a superstar called Chiranjeevi. He is a mass hero. Crowd puller. But expensive.

There is another hero called Srikanth. He too plays the same kind of roles. Appeals to almost the same kind of audience, though not such a big hit. But not very expensive.

Producers who want Chiranjeevi but can't afford him or get him go to Srikanth for hero roles.

Haha, yeah, it's a curse for Haas to be so similar to Stanford and be in the same area too. It's very very very hard to take someone who got into both from Stanford.

Gult? :P

Here's my school list..I know I am newbie here..but still wanted to share with you guys..

R1- Wharton, LBS, Chicago GSB, Stern
R2- Columbia GSB, HBS(maybe)

Haven't even started writing essays for Chicago. Weird essays.
Right not I am solely focussing on Wharton and LBS and hoping that I will manage to sneak the Chicago app in too..

Good luck to my fellow applicants..

Cheers.
