Hello All,
Another long time lurker, first time poster. Took the test 3 years ago and scored mid 600's (Q 42 both times), retook about a month ago, based on feedback from my target school and scored 740 (Q 47 V 46). Actually studied much harder the first time, my prep this time was more relaxed ( about 1 hr per day) for about 4 months (vs 2-3 hours each day for 2 months first time). On the Powerprep I was scoring high 600's and that was my expectation this time around. Therefore, I was pretty surprised when I got my score. From my observations the main difference was the type of Q's I received. Last time I got 2 or 3 permutation/combination problems in a row and this was my weak point. This time I did not see one. Made a huge difference, almost seems like the GMAT keyed in on a weakness and went for the kill the 1st time. For the Verbal I was just more patient and relaxed this time around. On the hardest questions I narrowed the answers and almost always got it down to 2. Best comparison I can think for my attitude was like after Peter gets hypnotized in "Office Space." That's how I felt the whole test, no stress, no confidence, just no emotion at all really. Not sure if this post is helpful, but I would encourage everyone to try and relax for the test, anxiety killed me the first 2 times. Good Luck
