haha avi, I'll use the same 90 that I prepared for UCLA for this one. Same with Kellogg next week. (other than specific school programs)

Thank goodness you really only need to prepare once... :)

Re: Calling Berkeley-Haas Fall 2008 Applicants! [#permalink]
I am an Indian applicant (profile: 750/4.5WE) with decent grades and above average extra curriculars. I have been involved with a sucessful startup since its inception and currently hold significant position in the same.

Since Haas typically has good name in entrepreneurship I am more attracted towards it. My questions are: what are the real chances to getting to Hass by applying in 3rd round esp its low acceptance rate. Will there be enough seats available? Is it too late for this year?

Any inputs are appreciated from those (esp Indian applicants) who got interviewed or admitted through first/second round this year

You never know unless you try. If you don't try, your chances are zero.

In general, strongly advisable to apply in R1/R2 for Internationals.
But in case of Haas, they do not mention a particular disadvantage in applying in R3.

From the FAQs.....
"Do note, however, that we make most of our offers of admission from Rounds 1, 2, and 3. Only a small number of Round 4 applicants are offered admission each year."

You could try your luck...worst case, you will be better prepared if you apply next year.

Good luck.

Seriously. I'm applying from abroad so I'm not waiting for the Super Saturday invite, just an interview with an alum.

At what point do we start to freak out? :P

Haas seems to emphasize innovation and social responsibility. while I want to learn about both areas, I'm interested in Finance. I have heard that Haas is a good Finance school (maybe not as highly regarded as Wharton or Columbia but strong nonetheless). Can someone knowledgeable about this chime in?

How does someone with ambitions of going into the financial world mesh their essays with the innovation/SR theme the school seems to want to convey?

Sorry for belated reply. From my understanding, Finance is much much more basic at Haas than at finance-heavy schools like Wharton. I discussed this with my friend over there, and it seems their syllabus for core classes is much heavier. IBs do recruit here, but it's not even in the ballpark of those focused schools.

My 2 cents.

With no invite today I've pretty much thrown in the towel. I still have a tiny hope for early next week, but realistically since I am a US based applicant that would have to travel by air, I am probably out. Too bad, I really liked Haas.

don't worry, there's still hope for next week. They BARELY invited anyone so far. And next week still gives enough time to do travel plans (those last minute vacation packages on AA.com or United.com are good :P)
