Just got off the phone with Haas. Apparently most of the 80-100 invites for Super Saturday have already been sent out. Looks like additional invites will only come if people turn down SS.

Sigh.

Well that's a bummer. I'm holding out hope that there's still a chance as I'm applying from abroad.

Does Berkeley only have one Super Saturday, for R1? Nothing for R2?

really?! if they sent out 80-100 invites, then why are there so few people reporting invites?

Also, there should be alumni interviews too, not just Super Saturday. Technically, I'm not even supposed to have an invite to SS because I live in the Bay Area.

Very very strange....

Berkeley has a super saturday for R1 and for R2.

I am not surprised at the number of interview invites that have gone out. I don't think Admissions411 is very accurate. A lot of people post only have their results.

I wonder whether the Adcoms consider applicants from Canada as internationals as far as scheduling interviews and travel arrangements go. I have heard different points of view.

If they're only inviting 80-100 people for super saturday, that seems to imply that they will admit almost all of them.

it does seem like they will admit all of them (unless you butcher your interview) if they only invite 100. Given 3 effective rounds at Haas (4th round is minimal), and 50% yield, they'll get 50 in R1, 50 in R2, and 50 in R3 (based on 100 person SS invites). They still need 100 more from alumni interviews and such to fill the class.

I personally don't mind them admitting everyone invited to SS :P

I guess my only hope now is WL. I am pretty disappointed, I really wanted Haas.

guys, don't feel disappointed. We all know Haas is NOTORIOUS for their waitlists, but the good news is 50% of the people get off the wait lists (at least last year I heard). They just use it to compare one round to another, and to control their yield.

So don't give up hope if you get WL. It's a good sign that you probably will get admitted within the next round or so!

Random question:

When does the quantitative workshop at Haas start?

Their materials just say "end of summer"...when is that?

I think it will be roughly 3 wks before the first day of school. 2 wks for the quant/writing skills workshops, 1 wk for orientation, then school.

My opinion is it is always worth a try. And since Haas has 4 rounds, you're not applying to that dreaded final round.

R3 is still fine, go for it! R4 is tough, but I had a friend who got in R4 (he was a Haas undergrad with good experience, but not a Mt. Everest climber or anything like that).
