R1 folks - how long did you have to wait before you got an interview invite from Haas? I submitted my app for R2, December 11th, and so far I've heard nothing but crickets chirping...(*chirp chirp - chirp chirp*)

I wouldn't be nervous until after R1 admit decisions. I didn't get mine until just before New Years, almost 8 weeks after submission. So if you submitted Dec 10th, then February (after R1 decisions) is your most likely bet to start hearing interviews.

Speaking of being nervous:

R1 applicants, aren't you getting anxious now? Man, I am happy about the Ross admit and all, but 2 weeks until the Haas decision seems to be an eternity at this point. Especially, since my Haas interview didn't go that well...

how did the interview not go well? Usually people feel like that, but a lot of people who thought they did poorly got into their schools.

What was the interview like?

kry. I actually wrote the whole entry for my blog already, and then took it back down. Call me paranoid, but I thought that maybe the guy reads it before submitting to Haas. I guess its safe now? You recon?

I guess you're right. Here is my blog entry, let me know what you think:

That's it. Application season is over for me. I finished my last interview with a Haas alum and now that will be it. No more essays, interviews, GMAT preparation for me. Looking back though, it was an interesting time. To everyone who is about to begin their MBA journey: See this time as a challenge not as a nuisance. Especially the GMAT and the essays. I think you do learn something throughout the entire time.

Anyway, how did the interview go?

Well, honestly, it could have been better. I guess there was no trouble with the questions. After speaking about my career so far, he wanted to know why I wanted to pursue an MBA despite a previous business degree. What I wanted out of the degree. Then we moved on to what I would give to the program, why they should admit me. We spoke a little about a possible weakness and then I had time to ask a few questions. All in all the whole thing took around 45mins.

It's not that anything went wrong throughout the interview, but I still am not thrilled about it. Especially it didn't strengthen my enthusiasm for Haas. When I started out on my MBA journey, Haas was my absolute no.1 choice. I am becoming less and less convinced about that. It could have been that there was no real chemistry between that guy and me. But then again, isn't the way you feel around the alums a decisive factor as well? The alums from Kellogg and Tuck have been phenomenal.

Well, maybe I won't have to think about it in the first place as I am not sure how I will be rated after that interview. I think I made a convincing case why I need the MBA, and why from Haas but as we all know decisions are influenced by personal impressions. Having the Ross admit under my belt makes it a lot easier to wait for Cal's decision.

I applied for R1 but still see that the application is under review. I am beginning to think that I might get a WL or a Deny. Any thoughts?

I'd give the WL/Ding scenario a 95% chance at this point. Don't feel bad, its a large club of us getting prepared to be rejected by Haas.

thanks for the post branson (kudos!)

I wouldn't use alum interaction (especially just one of them) as an indicator. So far every trip I've had to Haas has been amazing. Interacting with alums, students, and adcom just made me want to go to Haas more (even to the point that it was almost tied with my desire to go to Stanford). Kellogg was also a very fun experience and I love their students, but Haas is just that slightly more. :)

I'd say get in, and go to the admit weekend and decide then. That's what I'm hoping to do. :P

hola kryzak. thanks for the kudos! (my first one! jeeejjj :) )

You re right. I shouldnt judge it by that interaction. I hope I can make it to the admit weekend. Is there already a date for that? As I am in Germany I cant fly out to that many admit weeks. When is the Kellogg admit thing btw?

no problem branson :)

I think Kellogg R2 admit weekend is April 18th or something near that. No clue when Haas is...

Of course, we both have to get into both schools first! :)

Haas is a good choice if you liked Kellogg, trust me :P

good question... if it's the adcom, then it's probably not blind. I'm not sure if 2nd year students see our application or not. Either way, I'm studying my app tonight to make sure my story is consistent.
