Good luck everyone going to Super Saturday tomorrow! I have my interview with an alumni in Los Angeles on Sunday (what I call my own Super Sunday :-D ) so hopefully this will be a good weekend for everyone!

haha, we just got back. Well, I think mba2010 is probably still trying to drive back to SF in the horrible traffic. Anyway, it was a fun event and the people there are just super friendly. I will have a full debrief when I get more time on the computer.

mba2010 and others can pitch in their viewpoints. I'm not sure who else y'all are, those who were there.

BTW, some stats they just shared with us:

R1 applications increased by 27%, R2 increased by 20%.

They are interviewing 20% of the R1 applicants this year. Decisions will go out on or *by* (key word "by") January 29th.

Days at Haas will be April 10-12 for all rounds (if you find out by then).

Any other questions? :)

Kryzak, did they give any indication as to what percentage of those they interview will be offered admission?

red_s4, no, they just said that just because you get an interview doesn't mean you're automatically in, an obvious statement that they had to say because in the past people have complained that they were under the false hope of getting in already if they got an interview.

Let's see, 3250 applicants last year. with 27% increase in R1 (people preparing a lot earlier now) and 20% increase in R2, let's say the total increase is roughly 22%. That means this year there'll be about 3965 applicants total this year. With that in mind, that's roughly a 11.8% admit rate (with 50% yield). So roughly 60% interviewed today will probably get accepted.

Scary how Haas has dropped to 12% admit rate... next year it may be sub-10!

R3 at Haas is comparable to R2 at most schools. However, given your average profile (based on what you've provided), you'll have to work really hard to set yourself apart in your essays. Of course, you can't get in unless you apply, so I say go for it! If you don't get in this year, retake the GMAT over the summer so your score is more in line with the rest of your IIT pool. Take part in some extracurriculars. Take some classes to raise your alternative GPA.

I have no idea. I doubt you have priority just cuz you're a reapplicant. They just want to get the best most diverse applicant pool possible.

I can just envision what schools are going to say in 2009. Congratulations, you have a 1 in 10 chance at shelling out $160,000 for an education! And don't forget, we want to know how YOU will contribute to our school.

forgot to mention that during my interview, my cell phone (which was on silent--I double-checked!) beeped when my boyfriend sent me a text message. I was totally flustered because I couldn't figure out WHY the phone beeped when it was clearly on silent.

To me, that means ding. Totally unprofessional. That makes the choice easier for me :D And more room for you guys!
