Re: Women bullying women at work (article) [#permalink]
While I've had great women mentors, peers and friends, I had a horrible experience with my first manager who happened to be a Polish woman. She was insecure, manipulative, lack of knowledge of the field and was just overall unbearable - extremely hard on the girls on her team. The end result was - every girl left the team ( by moving to other teams or quitting). She left the company a few years after.

Also, sad to admit, the gossipy crowd in the office also consist mainly of girls. It is also a bad cycle - because even a guy chit chat as much as a girl, somehow the girl is perceived as the bad one if not worse.

It really sucks to be a young woman in a male-dominate field - it's not just about to roll your sleeves up and show everyone you are smart, humble and hard working. Even you don't get any special treatment - somehow you got the job because you know someone- because you are a girl-because you are a minority. Yup, no one cares you actually worked hard to earn your degrees, to build your credentials and had to WORK harder to proof a point.

when men bully, it's bullying. when women bully, it's women bullying. This is nothing new.
