Oh, I actually started a thread about this in another forum. So Baruch is #6 in the country? Also, is NYU the same thing as NYU-Poly? I talked to someone about NYU-Poly's Masters in Financial Engineering, which looks different from that. I still can't get over the fact Baruch is this highly rated.

nyu is not the same as nyu-poly. afaik nyu's mfe program is probably the best in terms of reputation and it's right there in nyc.
also keep in mind that mfe recruitment is completely separate from mba recruitment at certain schools so the brand might not always carry over smoothly

What does "afaik" mean? Also, is NYU-Poly at all highly touted? The one that you said is the best in terms of reputation is the NYU, not NYU-Poly one right?

A few points of correction

Baruch is not #6. The ranking is ordered alphabetically so Baruch, NYU belong to the group of 6th-10th ranking. It clearly states so on the ranking page

NYU Math Finance program is from NYU Courant which is the top math dept in applied math in the world.

NYU-Poly refers to the MFE program from Polytech University. After Polytech merges with NYU, Polytech is called NYU-Poly but their MFE program is a separate program.

it should be well noted that baruch sponsors the site which did the ranking so i wouldn't take the rankings too seriously.

the ranking actually makes a bit of sense since the top 10 on there are the only program worth attending in the US, although nyu should be #1

from what i've heard, baruch has a solid program and they work with recruiters in designing the curriculum. and it's cheap.

Vikmeh is right - don't take the survey seriously. I looked at the "methodology" - it looks like it can be readily gamed.

Wasn't MIT's MFin program non-existent at that point?
