hi guys, just received interview invite, so excited! did not think it will come that quickly. I am international student and submitted for R2 at the end of December. I know that NYU likes oncampus interviews. Is there a downside with trying to interview with alumn? or do you recommend going to NY? i've already visited campus few months ago. Good luck to all!

Personally, I would recommend the on campus interview. It's your opportunity to speak directly with an admissions committee member that most schools don't give you. If you can get that person to buy into you, they can convince the whole committee. Just my thoughts. Well worth the investment of the trip.

New audio update on the status page. Main point was that majority of R1 initial decisions have gone out, but are still sending invites. After interviewing, one will receive word within 2-3 weeks.

They don't do alum interviews. You may be able to get in on the London interview day (which is with AdCom, maybe some interviewing alum), but it is very much an organized event and I doubt it would count against you in any shape or form.

They don't do alum interviews???? Is that true for everywhere in the world? I live in Chile... I definately don't want to spend 2 grand just for an intereview... (if I get invited anyway).

I think there is still a little hope. It seems they dont like us enough to invite for interview but dont think we are bad enough to be rejected rightaway. we are kind of their backup :). I have seen some great profiles rejected already. So i am unhappy with them for keeping me in limbo ...but somewhat happy as well...

Re: Calling all NYU Fall 2010 applicants [#permalink]
I think there are three possible situations at play:

1) they haven't looked at our files yet
2) They briefly looked and bucketed us with similar candidates, but have yet to fully review
3) they have looked and have put off a decision for some reason

I think #3 = the waitlisted people. its esentially an unofficial waitlist while also conducting an official waitlist (its waitlist w/out interview so its the exact same boat).

Hence, I am more inclined to believe its #1 or #2. It just doesn't seem like they would wait to say something if they already decided.

Disclaimer: All speculation on my part
