I am in a similar situation. 5 yrs work-ex, award-winning author, one leadership award at work, other awards during UG, superb leadership in ECs, etc etc. UG-GPA = 2.5. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, 2.5. GMAT 710 (Q49,V38). Adding my name here so if someone has a success story with similar profiles, I'd like to hear.

I don't have any success stories yet, but I'm hoping for one. I had a 2.9 as a humanities major but will apply to Stern next week for R2.

aabbccddee - Stern employs a slightly different method than other schools, which is why it may seem a little confusing at first.

The school interviews all admitted students, and on an interview it is extemely rare for someone to get waitlisted after interview - it is in or out.

In some ways it seems strange to waitlist someone after interview - surely after reading their application and meeting them, you can decide if they are correct for the program or not.

it's funny that you think its strange to waitlist someone after interview because i just read an applicant post on the BW forum that he got interviewed on 12/17 and waitlisted on 1/7.....

I hope I didn't say it is strange, but it seldom happens. For reference - I used to give the information sessions at the school, so have been pretty on script with the message from Admissions of what is information made public.

Mind you, it is also on BW forums, of which I have already expressed my opinions of how much faith can be given.

Re: Calling all NYU Fall 2010 applicants [#permalink]
Hi All,

I'm throwing my hat into the ring here for Round 2! I visited, took a class, coffee-chatted -- whole shebang. And I gotta tell you, I'm into it.

Anyway, I was hoping someone could give me some insight on reporting transcripts from study abroad. I know the instructions say that if a transcript is not in English, you need to fill out the transcript form manually rather than uploading the original document. The transcript that my study abroad program sent me is halfsies, though. All my identifying information (ss #, address, university affiliation, etc.) is in English. The headers like "Course Taken" and the grades (both French-style on a 20-point scale and equivalent American letter grades) are in English.

BUT the course names are in French; e.g., "Département d'histoire: Analyse du monde contemporain."

Do you suppose I really need to translate this sort of thing? If so, do you think I need to attach the full-on manually-completed transcript? Or can I just append a short Word document translating the course titles?

Any study-abroaders or current students have insight?

Thanks.

Call the number on the website - my bet is they would tell you just to upload, but the person who answers the call will be able to quickly ask an adcom member whether it is OK.

My impression is that the document isn't particularly complex (they are more troubled by Farsi or something)

Thanks, 3underscore. I agree with you, but I'll see what they say. I appreciate you being a resource so at least when I call I'm not bugging them with questions that any old dummy could figure out.

You're right, the document is quite straightforward. There are only a few classes listed, and even someone with no French background could guess what 75% of it says.

(They ultimately shouldn't care too much anyway. The grades didn't factor into my undergrad GPA, though I wish they had.)
