Yeah, Stern provides a link to a full-page of information and ways to update them on what you've done to improve your candidacy. An email address is provided to send updates.

Maybe talk to some current students or professors. Or even better alumni, to get an additional letter of support.

I really am not sure in the value derived from talking to professors at a prospective school. Students certainly. I think knowing what your recommender's wrote in this situation becomes important, as it may well be a gap in their contribution vis a vis your application that needs adressed. It is certainly not always the GMAT.

Be judicious around alumni. I know of occassions where on being asked for a recommendation, the person asked has been negative to the idea - the culture runs pretty thick on who is a fit.

status: waitlisted w/o interview

Does stern interview all its admits?

I had no idea you can be waitlisted w/o an interview.. sounds silly...

So is the process now that you wait for an interview, or can you be admitted w/o one?

aabbccddee - Stern employs a slightly different method than other schools, which is why it may seem a little confusing at first.

The school interviews all admitted students, and on an interview it is extemely rare for someone to get waitlisted after interview - it is in or out.

In some ways it seems strange to waitlist someone after interview - surely after reading their application and meeting them, you can decide if they are correct for the program or not.

gpa - can't change
we - up for promo in June, the bossman already knows I am cutting out, so no go on a promo
gmat - struggled to get 680, don't want to go through that again

what does anyone know about improving "Personal Characteristics", specifically professional reco letter .. who should it come from, what should it include, what does "if appropriate" mean
-Provide a brief essay to demonstrate your continued commitment to attending NYU Stern.
-Submit a supplemental professional recommendation letter (if appropriate).

I read on BW forum that NYU will be sending out Interview invites for R1 only till Jan 15. Is this true or just one more rumor?

Much like most things on BW, it is completely unfounded.

unhedged - even that wouldn't have to be true. Technically you can get waitlisted then, and called to interview maybe as late as June.
