Calling all NYU Fall 2010 applicants

I am not sure! I am applying R2 to other schools (am almost done with apps so I am going through with all of them) but I am taking it one day at a time and if I am lucky enough to get a choice in schools, it will come down to "fit" based on the feeling I get from additional visits, alumni research + attending admitted students weekends etc. as well as if there is any scholarship/fellowship money factoring into my decision. If Stern is the only one I get into, I will be more than ecstatic to attend as I think it is a great school and I would be honored to be Sternie. So we'll see. Either way, it is a fantastic way to be going into the holidays.

Again--good luck to everyone still waiting, I have a good feeling about January being a big month for GmatClub folks & Stern.

Congratulations, LB20 and Nick!! I'm glad you heard back before the holiday break! I'm hoping to get an interview invite--I'm thinking they're probably about done sending them out before the break, so hopefully in January. My app hasn't even been printed out yet. MBA12: Sorry, I thought it had not been printed yet because my status has not been changed at all since I first submitted my app. So I thought that meant my app had not been processed yet. But I guess I was wrong because I did get an invite this morning--very surprised, since I thought nothing had been done on it yet.

Hi. I just got an interview invitation this week (12/22). I submitted my application in the first round on 11/15, two hours before the deadline.

I received an interview invite today as well. I have few questions for solaris and those who have got admitted recently-

1. I did not get any SWIB invite - how does it matter?
2. None of the dates showing on interview schedule website have the option to do lunch with a student. I do want to check out as much other stuff related to Stern as possible on my interview day. How can I maximize my experience? I am very interested in MESA club and would like to meet some student ambassador, how can I get it arranged?
3. Lastly, how long does the interview take? It says 30 mins but that sounds a bit short to me. Any pointers for preparation?

I can't help you on #1, unfortunately, since I don't know what precipitates a SWIB event invite. But for #2, I would recommend either contacting a MBA graduate ambassador to see if anyone would be willing/able to chat with you. I'm not sure this is possible, but I think showing your interest in learning more can't hurt. Maybe they can put you in touch with someone in MESA? Also, I might try emailing the MESA email address (mesa@stern.nyu.edu) to see if someone would be available that day to chat with you.

For #3, my interview was a little less than 40 min, but I think it was only that long because we got caught up in a conversation about a few of the questions I had at the end. I wrote some other stuff above, but knowing your app really well will help you. I personally got mostly questions specific to my resume & essays, and it was very conversational. I know there are people who got more specific questions like "tell me about a time you worked with a team" etc. As a result, taking a look at a list of typical MBA interview questions will make you less nervous because you will be prepared. Sit and read them through aloud, hear how you sound when you're talking, maybe practice in front of a friend or just the mirror.
