Hi Guys...so I received an e-mail from INSEAD an hour ago. My heart dropped remembering what SM332 had said about INSEAD always calling first. Fortunately I still read through the e-mail...I'm in at Fonty!

So you're the one who took my spot!!!!!
Just teasing, man. Congrats! Where are you located btw?

Hi - I also got the good news email at about 10am Paris time - I had a missed call from a blocked number a few hours later - guess that was them!

Anyway, I'll be starting in Singapore (although I'll go to the Fonty open day as it's closer) - look forward to meeting some of you there.

Finally just want to thank everyone for providing such a supportive forum - although it was pretty stressful at times too! Good luck to those still waiting.

You would forfeit your 5000 euros deposit to go to Wharton? Why not do the exchange?
Do you plan to live in the US after graduation?

While the 5000 Euros would pinch tremendously, in the long run that wont be the reason preventing a switch.

I am not particularly keen on the USA (I took my licks post UG, XY job offers but no visa) but Wharton vs. INSEAD brand issue is constantly drilled into my head from extended family in India. Given that India is where I want to end up sooner rather than later - something to think about.

Anyways, all hypothetical at this pt. Come May 14 we can have this conversation or not!

I almost found myself in a similar situation. I got accepted into INSEAD round 2, Feb 26. I had to pay the 5k EUR deposit by March 26, but I had another application running: HBS, notification date April 6th. One of my friends advised by to try to delay the 5k EUR payment by a few weeks. I gave INSEAD a call, and gave me an extension of 2 weeks. Thank god I tried and got the extension, cause I got into HBS as well, which was by far my preferred school.

Nevertheless, if I would've paid the 5k, I still would've chosen HBS. 5k is a good amount of money, but quite marginal in the overall cost of an MBA. Last thing you want, is to look back in a few years and say: 'Damn, I regret not going to my preferred school for 5k EUR'.

I hope you get into Wharton, and will face the difficult choice. I am convinced you'll go for Wharton though. :-)

Yeah it will be a very difficult choice and has already been the source of much debate. But as you correctly pointed out, the decision will certainly not hinge on the 5K Euro deposit.

FYI

as of 2 minutes ago - there are already 498 admits based on directory information. Since classes top out at 515 it doesnt seem like there will be many spots left.

there is no way of distinguishing right now .. BTW the numbers have moved to 501.

I know that you have to actively log on to 'get counted' but dont think it reflects whether you have paid your deposit or not.

Total of 48 French nationals - 23 of them have multiple nationalities hence dont know how many are counted as French vs. their other nationalities.

41 French men, 8 female -- wow that is terrible!!

Overall, 345 Men, 159 female as of this writing. close to 30% which isnt great since the numbers seem to be slipping from previous years 35-37%.
