My GMAT Progress

As long as you answer correctly the designated problems under timed conditions, then you're in good shape so far. Whether for the CAT's or end-of-chapter questions, MGMAT problems are generally considered more difficult than the OG.

Regarding verbal, just find some time to practice or review the concepts. Even if you can only spare 30 minutes throughout the day, then do it.

@bmillan01 thanks for the heads up. timing has been an issue, i've been concentrating on content and understanding how to solve problems, i know that i'm spending extra time on them to get them right.

are there any good tips/tricks for time management? i know i could do a search, but i'm too lazy

This post is the most comprehensive. In the beginning, you're reinforcing concepts, so there's no need to use a timer yet. As you progress, though, timing yourself for the OG is important. And always complete the CAT's under timed conditions. For question practice, you can use a stopwatch or the GMAT timer.

awesome - thanks bmillan01. i just finished the mgmat word translations book, and it just transformed the way i look at rate, work, and overlapping set problems. i highly recommend that book!

i had roughly a 91% hit rate on the total set of corresponding OG12 questions, in untimed conditions. I'm now going through geometry (my last of the mgmat books), and will be doing many more CATs (and gmat club tests!) going forward. i hope i can put it all together!

hi everyone, i haven't posted in a while. i'm taking full advantage of the free gmatclub tests, just took math test 1. i received a 29/37 (67.8%), with at least 3 of those being dumb mistakes that i didn't take time to think through. 1 question i had was this (not sure if this is the right forum, but wanted to ask briefly):

Is the product of \(A\) and \(B\) equal to 1?

1. \(A * B * A = A\)
2. \(B * A * B = B\)

the answer is E, but i put D for the following rational.

if A*B*A=A, i simplified by saying A^2*B=A -> B=A/A^2 -> B=1/A. If B=1/A the product of A and B would be A*1/A=1, therefore sufficient. Same reasoning for #2 above. Where am i flawed?

Hi Guys - It's been a while since I've last posted, and but wanted to give you guys a quick updated. I've taken quite a few practice sections since I last posted, but scored from the ranges between upper 500's and lower 600's. I was so flabbergasted that I wanted to quit. But I didn't and began reviewing and studying content more. The past 3 days, I took both GMAT prep tests and scored a 710 (Q47 V40) and a 700 (Q47 V38) . I'm stoked to score above 700 both times, and believe that I can do better!

One caveat is that during the first test (the 710 score), there was one repeated reading comprehension passage which I got all right during both the exam and when I first went through the OG 12 book. The second test, there may have been 1 or 2 repeat critical reasoning questions, but not much more than that.

My test is on two days, Friday 10/22, and I'm feeling confident about it! Tomorrow will be a day of relaxation with maybe a little review of flash cards, and then game time! Thanks for the support and I'll let you know how it goes!

Hi Kevin, What if both A & B are zero?

it's over! i just took the GMAT today and received a 710 - Q48 V40. Just the right breakdown I wanted! I didn't even finish the math section (guessed on 2 questions and didn't even get to put in an answer choice on the last question) which now makes me think I could have scored higher. But nonetheless, it's a great feeling to be a part of the 700 club! Thanks gmat club! I will be writing a more detailed debrief later, but just wanted to give you the quick and dirty update!

Congratulations, man! Glad to see your score. And glad to see that you could increase it during your preparation. That gives me hope, as I'm in the process and improving little by little.
