Matriculating 2013 MIT Sloan Leaders for Global Operations (LGO) Program
Hi, my name is David and I'm a first year student in the MIT Leaders for Global Operations program. LGO is a two-year, dual-degree MBA/MS Engineering program born from the collaboration of the Sloan School of Management and the MIT School of Engineering. LGO is focused on educating technically-polished future business leaders to solve tomorrow's operations challenges. I am starting this thread with a few classmates to help answer some questions, to familiarize you with the program, and to let you know what being a student at MIT/Sloan is really like.
Couple of notes about LGO:
[list][*]The majority of the tuition (at Sloan's rates) is subsidized
[*]The program starts in the beginning of MIT's summer session to allow the Sloan/engineering courses to fit in the two years allotted
[*]Acceptance is limited to about 48 per year
[*]Generally considered more a part of Sloan than the engineering department
The application process is almost identical to the general Sloan process. The LGO program is a selectable option from the Sloan application site or through the MIT engineering graduate school site. If you apply through the Sloan side, there is an additional essay requirement.

You do not need a work permit to apply to the LGO program.
The program does admit international students and around 10% of the class is international. LGO defines an international applicant as one who has neither citizenship nor permanent residence status in the United States. All international applicants are considered and the evaluation process is exactly the same as for U.S. applicants. Historically, a small percentage of each LGO class has been international because our industry partners (who fund the majority of the program) expect most of our graduates to be pre-authorized to work in their facilities.
Each application is evaluated based on its own merit. If you feel LGO is a good match for your interests, you should absolutely apply.
