Leadership can defined in multiple ways. It doesn't have to necessarily big "L" leadership in that you're leading 20 underlings to a huge product victory, but it can also be (and in most cases more accurately is) being a leader in the company by delivering day in and day out. Certainly that's something that you should be able to point to in research. How have you effectively delivered results for the company in a tangible and objective way (provide numbers)?
Getting a customer-side experience would be nice, but is not necessary. It is necessary, however that you do more reflection to understand how you've been a leader in your organization.
On the community service front, it wouldn't be a horrible idea to get involved in one activity that strikes your interest -- doesn't have to be a huge commitment -- just to show you're willing to get involved.
Your hobbies sound interesting -- don't discount their worth.
