Uhm.. I haven't uploaded my CV, but you have to enter your work experiences, right...

I visited campus and talked to an admissions officer. This will already tie a "face" to your application, but I don't think that it will be a huge advantage over those who don't visit personally. My purpose really was to get to know the program better and to check the campus site.

Did both take the inteviews together or first one was by one person and the next one by the other? Just wondering if they will repeat questions maybe if they are separate?

yup they do sequentially. in fact, it's really two calls with an hour break or so.
You might therefore be required to repeat some things. That way, they try to obtain two independent opinions.

Dear XYZ, Thank you for your email. We are still processing the 1st batch full-time MBA applications at the moment, and it appears to me that your application is still under review at the moment. As stated on our website, the 1st round applicants who are shortlisted for our interview will be notified by Jan 11, 2011, and we would appreciate your patience.  If you need further assistance about your application, please feel free to contact my colleague in the admissions team at applymba@ust.hk.

Re: HKUST 2011-2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
I just had an interview..
first one was by the admissions head and the second one by an aussie professor (I think the same one as everyone else)

The interview by the professor was very easygoing and was more of a discussion on ideals and passions than anything to do with my workex..I actually enjoyed this a lot as he was fun to talk to.. Lasted for about 22 minutes..
The first one was a bit different in the sense it was more of an interview and more career related questions as in why this and why that..I wasnt too comfortable with the way i handled this one.. :( lasted for about 17 minutes..

pranavk same here. not really bad, but one was certainly more comfortable to talk to.

Re: HKUST 2011-2012 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
Hello everyone

I am also considering applying to HKUST 2011, and I hope its not too late.

I gave my GMAT last year and got a 700 ( Quant : 94, Verbal :70). I plan on giving it a second time around the 20th of december ( to improve my verbal score ), but I believe that would be late for HKUST. Is it possible to send a GMAT score after applying ??

Secondly, can somebody evaluate my profile:

Work Ex : 2 years in IT
9 months as a research analyst in an energy firm
6 months and counting as an MBA instructor / counsellor

I also need to know if somebody has a definite idea about their campus recruitments, because I cant seem to find the statistics anywhere.

I surely am impressed with their campus and exchange programmes, but I just hope its not too china centric as I not looking at moving to china anytime in the near future.

Thanks
Best of luck to everyone who's applying

hey, welcome to the club/thread! I think you got a pretty good gmat for HKUST and if you retake i am not sure if they will receive it on time before reviewing your app though... With your WE I think the total number of months is slightly below average but it is not a deal breaker. However, they might question your 9/6 month position switch so maybe put that explanation in an optional essay?

brabbit, I really don't think you need to retake your GMAT.

I agree w/ shaselai, the 9 months as research analyst need an explanation. Your WE probably is at the lower end, but you have a very good GMAT already, which makes it up already. However, HKUST clearly emphazises it's proximity to China and it's China focus... you might not wanna point out that you're not interested in the China market...

will 660 and 6 years of work exp including two at international locations be good enough to get the admission call. some really senior guys from company (which has fairly strong presence in HK) gave a good recommendation as well. thanks

Anyone heard back? I got my acceptance email this morning. They require a Jan 12 response though! (And I am not sure I will even have heard from INSEAD re: interviews at that point!)

Good luck to everyone out there :)

Congrats, nycgirl191!
I am short-listed for an interview for HKUST.
I am in a similar case  though I haven't have INSEAD's confirmation email yet (almost three weeks have passed!) I heard that HKUST's Adcom is pretty efficient in processing the applications. Lucky that the Adcom and I both have to push back the interview date.

It's hard to evaluate without knowing your pool; however, your GMAT and WE should be fine. Work on your essays.
