Visit a wait listed school?

Honestly, not much scope at top5 level. With r3 in full swing, I doubt adcom would notice your pilgrimage at all. Save the money, light candle and say a prayer. Good luck

What school are you waitlisted at if you don't mind me asking?

The best way to get off a WL is to be
1. give your updates (meaningful adds) & reiterate your interest in the program (add something abt how your perception has changed abt the school)
2. Get additional recos (if the school allows it particularly from alumni ... senior alumns / recent grads who might know the adcom are the best, but any alum reco is taken seeriously)
3. Lobbying - have current students at schools (who are friends / former colleagues) send in a letter and maybe even casually drop into the adcom's office and talk to them abt ur candidacy. Adcom's take such feedback seriously depending on which school it is.

Visiting the school would not help much.

Regarding this...a very close friend is a JD/PhD student there....would her referral mean anything? Her father, who I know much less, also received his MBA at the same program.
