Does M/B/B look at a candidate's GMAT score (apart from work ex, GPA, career progression etc.) while sending out interview invites?

My friend has a 710, should he retake the GMAT before he joins a MBA program in August?

Thank you.

Yes MBB does look at your GMAT score - McKinsey asks for it in their online app.
A 710 should be fine as long as your friend went to a good undergrad school, has a good undergrad GPA and is going to a target school.

On the other hand if he can raise his GMAT to a 750+ and will be going to a target, he is pretty much guaranteed to get 1st rounds.

Thank you Jasonc. He will be enrolling at McCombs full time MBA program. I guess it does qualify as a target school for M/B/B since all three companies come on campus. Thanks again!

a 750+ gets your foot in the door (for the most part) huh? I have not heard this before, is this common "street" knowledge?

Thats just from my experience this past recruiting season. Pretty much all of my classmates with 750+ got 1st round interviews.
