Hej Happytrojan:
I spent some time in Sweden a couple of years ago. What an absolutely great country! one of my best friends from UCLA with a lawyer in Sweden as well. Anyway, I would move there if I could, but I digress.
An interesting point is that I wrote the original version of the business school selector. I created the model in Excel, which was based off of a multivariate linear regression. I am not sure if it has been updated in recent years, it was definitely a fun project to work on when I was at Veritas.
So if you have an initial question for you. You are 26 and you are still an undergraduate? Meaning, when did you graduate?when were you a insurance broker, if you have no post graduate work experience?so I am confused, do you or do you not have postgraduate work experience? It was not clear from your original post, because initially you said you did not and then you said you have been a broker for 14 months.
If this work experience occurred before USC, then it makes more sense that your are 26 and still at USC. Also, what do you mean by "get paid to watch the neighbors"? What kind of job is that? You have a little bit of an unconventional path, so it would be nice to see your resume to place this all in chronological perspective.
Based on your background that you listed, I would say that you could make a good candidate for business school -- solely based on the work experience that you currently have. the trick is going to be on how to string it all together. You have to be very aware that they are going to want to know why a lawyer from Sweden wants to go into business. Based on my close friends experience, that is my friend who is a lawyer from Sweden, I do have a couple of suggestions for you.
Before we get to that, please let me know about my questions above. It is going to be hard for me to provide you with accurate advice, if I do not understand the chronology here. Also, I would encourage you to e-mail me your resume -- please send it to
MBA@amerasiaconsulting.com. This would quickly clear up a lot of questions I have in my mind. One other thing that I wanted to throw out here initially -- based on the Motley nature of your background, at least what I can string together, I think that we should hold an initial consultation sooner than later. I can discuss what my friend now does for a living given his MBA in Swedish law degree.please let me know if this is something you would be interested in.
Respectfully,
Paul Lanzillotti
