How much time do you think is ideal to solve such a question. Even though I got it right ,I took 2min50sec to solve it...Honestly I think its a simple question but for some reason the whole process took me some time. Any trick which needs to be applied here ?
My approach was to form equations and find the value of 'Y' and then substitute it back in another equation to get value of 'X'

The table above shows the one-way driving distance, in miles, between four cities: P, Q, R, and S. For example, the distance between P and Q is 144 miles. If the round trip between S and Q is 16 miles further than the round trip between S and R, and the round trip between S and R is 24 miles less than the round trip between S and P, what is the value of X?


Trip from S - Q = X,
Trip from Q - S = X,
Round trip of S & Q = X + X = 2X

Trip from S - R = Y,
Trip from R - S = Y,
Round trip of S & R = Y + Y = 2Y

2x = 16+2y
2x-2y = 16
x-y = 8...... eqn 1

Similarly,
Round-trip of S & P = 2 * 186 = 372
2y = 372-24
y=174,

sub the value of Y in eqn 1

we get, x = 182
