Dear All,

In two weeks I'll have my first (and hopefully last) dance with the GMAT,
the reason why I'm writing is because on the simulations I'm struggling with the harder DS questions, specifically testing "extreme" cases.

That said my Q scores are reasonably high, but in the last GMATprep among the 7 wrong answers 5 were DS questions,
something that from my perspective has to and can be improved.

My plea is: if you know some advanced material which can explain in an easy fashion how to tackle those problems (I've already skimmed through the Manhattan DS guide and Magoosh) please let me know.

You said that your Quant scores are reasonably high. Having said that, you should not worry about the no of wrong answers. As per the algorithm, difficulty increases only till you fail to answer and getting very difficult question will not hurt your at all. So just relax and focus on basics. DS is all about keeping your mind red alert checking for exceptional cases affecting your sufficiency.

Also veritas DS is a wonderful resource and is free as well. GMAT is very liberal in case of math according to me. So Cool! 8-)

Hi DensetsuNo,

From what you've described, you have not taken a realistic CAT in over a month, so it's not clear whether you should be focused on DS right now or not. As such, you should plan to take a new FULL-LENGTH CAT (with the Essay and IR sections) sometime soon. Once you have that score result, you should post back here.

1) What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores when you scored 650?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
3) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Dear Rich,
this might be true for the verbal, but as far the Q is concerned there were no repeated questions so the test I did 2 weeks ago should be fine for that part.
Anyway, a few days ago I purchased the exam pack #2 and I'll try my chances on Saturday.

As for your questions:
1) Q44 V37
2) Starting September
3) Stanford deferred MBA, HBS 2+2 MBA, Sloan and Cornell (and probably Wharton)

Thanks mate, I agree that fundamentals are the key, but unfortunately I may lack some method on those questions,
I'll give a look at the Veritas book.

Your understanding of sufficiency may be lacking somewhere. The book might provide you the 'lightbulb' moment which will put everything in place.

Thanks Karishma, let's hope for some kind of enlightenment!

Well, looks like my time to shine. Check out my guides in my signature. They're questions from the OG, but explained in a unique and clear way.

Hopefully this is what you're looking for. Getting instincts for test cases can be tricky.
