Hi,
Hope you can give me some suggestions on my planning and if I can get into my Dream B-school.
My profile
I'm a 27 year old Indian origin-German citizen working in the UK. I've moved to germany when I was 18 to study engineering and explore europe. I finished my Bachelor's in Mechanical engineering from a German Engineering school with a grade of 1.3 (German grade system - 1- highest and 5-lowest).
I have been working for a Engineering Consultant firm since I've graduated starting as an Engineer and now as a Senior Consultant in Configuration and Project Management.
In our company we work for various companies such as BMW, VW, Porsche, Airbus etc. I have worked for Airbus only several project ranging over 3 different aircrafts. I started as a Design Quality Engineer moving to leading the Quality Management team within 8 months. After working as the Team lead, I have changed to another project as a consultant where I used support Airbus Head of Engineering and Head of Programme manage their suppliers and subcontactors for a specic Aircraft Programme.
Since Jan 2013, I have moved to the UK to help our firm to expand our business in the UK parallely working a senior Consultant in configuration Management. I started working as a single consultant for an Airbus client to manage the Design and Production Organisation for UK in accordance to several Quality Standards. Now within 6 months I have managed to get 3 more consultants on board and now looking to expand our expertise into different industries such as Automotive, construction etc. as Confi management is the key for every industry.
I am PMI certified Project Manager so I want to move out consultancy and move into administration side in the long run.
During my free time, I used to work as nursing helper in an old age home and support my fathers charity for under priveleged children in india. (KRUSHI foundation)
I have taken my GMAT way back in 2008 and got 690 but I would need to take the GMAT again.
I'm planning to stay in Europe and concentrate more on EMEA region. The schools that I would love to get in are INSEAD, LBS and Said. For my situation now, MBA is not the only way for me to go to the next step but will be an added advantage.
Hope you can give me some valuable suggestions.
Thank you
KC
Hey KC, good to hear from you dude!
Well, first things first...
Take the GMAT and see what you get! Then from there you can start to figure out where you might want to go. For industries such as yours, schools like INSEAD, HEC, IMD are perfect. Maybe some of the top English schools too. Actually though, you also have some options in Germany for Masters (not all MBAs, but some of them free) that might help you advance. It all depends a bit on what your goals are.
So I think my first question would be: Why do you want an MBA? What are your specific short and long-term goals? From there, it will be easier to figure out what schools might be right for you.
