Profile Evaluation: HBS 2+2 Program [#permalink] New post 30 Dec 2012, 02:00
Hey Paul,

I am very impressed with your detailed feedback on other posts and I am planning to use your full service for my application process in 2 years time but I was wondering if you could give me some feedback for now (because I still have 3 years to build my profile!)

University: The University of Melbourne (1st in Australia, 28th in the world)
Degree: Bachelor of Commerce
Major: Accounting & Finance
Year: Just completed my first year
Weighted average mark: 80% - First Class Honours (I don't know what the GPA equivalent is!)
Nationality: Australian
Work Experience:
- Summer internship at Ernst and Young
- Summer internship at PKF (starting in a few weeks)

GMAT: Haven't done the actual one - expecting about 700-720

Extracurricular Activities:
Taekwondo:

- Black Belt Certificate, registered holder at the World Taekwondo Headquarters
- Australian National Championships: 2 Gold, 2 Silver and 2 Bronze
- State Championships: 4 Gold and 2 Silver
- 'Melbourne Sports Star' Nominee for the 'Leaders' Newspaper (note: I didn't win, only nominated!)

Music:
- Australian Musical Examination Board: Grade 7 for Piano
- Australian Musical Examination Board: Grade 4 for Cello
- Music Theory: Grade 3

Business Competitions:
- Ernst & Young 'Talented & Young' Competition: National Winner
- UBS Investment Banking Challenge - First Year Finalist
- Credit Suisse HOLT Valuation Challenge - First at The University of Melbourne

Leadership:
- Representative for Australia at the global JENESYS Program - with a $10,000 scholarship funded by the Japanese Government
- The University of Melbourne Extension Program: Accounting (We completed 2 university subjects in high school. No idea how that demonstrates leadership but it seems important?)
- Numerous high school leadership positions (are these important though?)

Language:
- English (obviously... haha)
- Chinese: Completing a diploma at The University of Melbourne, alongside with my degree in Commerce
- Indonesian (limited working proficiency)
- Japanese (limited working proficiency)

Volunteering:
- AFS Australia: Support and Mentor (Quite active, 2nd year now)

I have a few questions (please number your answers if you can?)
1. How strong is my profile at this point in time? I'm slightly concerned because Australia is not very well-known to Americans... As opposed to Beijing or like, London
2. What should be the highlight of my profile for the 2+2 Program application (what should I make a story out of?)
3. What is my weakness?
4. What should I work on? I'm in my first year and I have 3 years. (Most important question! My reason for posting!)

Thank you very much in advance - I really appreciate it.
Feel free to criticise anything. I'll be using your service in 3 years anyway. It's better to know now than later, as I still have 3 years to work on it!
