What's your post-MBA career goal? Also, do you have any interesting extracurricular activities or hobbies? There will be hundreds of other accountants applying along with you, so you need something to make you stand out from them. Do you have any strategy for this yet?

Otherwise, great that you have solid academic achievements, that will help balance out your below average GMAT.

GMAT score is a bit low, but your strong GPA should balance that out. I think NYU is definitely within your reach. Columbia would be a bit harder to get into, but not impossible if you write good essays and interview well. I agree with tmino that you should stop worrying about your stats and focus on presenting yourself well and outlining concrete post MBA goals. I'd also suggest looking at a few more schools, since both the ones you applied to are very selective and this whole process could be kind of random.

Thanks for the commments

The reason I'm only applying to those schools is because I'm pretty much bound to NYC. Otherwise, yes, choosing just those 2 schools is dangerous.

I like my essays, and have had them edited by 2 friends, who i trust. Do you guys also recommend getting them reviewed by someone from Kaplan/ManhattanGMAT or someone who is a little closer to the process?

It doesn't hurt to have your essays reviewed by more people. You can always decide whether or not to take any feedback they give you.
