I would like to apply for a PhD in finance in one Ultra-Elite schools... but I think to include some safety schools (as those you suggested) in my "portfolio" is a wise decision.
Robbie1981,
A PhD, eh? Well, with your numbers you could probably aim high, and Wharton, Chicago, Columbia, MIT, and Haas among others are "ultra-elite" finance programs. Your "safeties" could even be somewhat higher on the food chain then the ones I mentioned. Your weakness--limited work, and I assume, managerial, experience--would hurt your chances at MBA programs, but won't necessarily for PhD programs in finance.
Good luck,
