(A) or nothing that has been (B) or that has been (c) and nothing that is (D) or anything that has been (E) and anything.
A & C - incorrect
'nothing' - should not be used. it is bad diction and awkward.
Moreover usage of 'is' in C is also incorrect
(B) - 'that' misplaced or dangling modifier
(E) - usage of 'and' contradicts the original stem where 'or' is used for listing
(d) - this choice is much more closer to the original. It corrects the error in the original by replacing nothing with anything.

Quote: (D) or anything that has been
Answer is D.
Commission does not want either of these bad things. The logic should be Not(x or y or z)
Yayyy.. software skills used for sentence correction.

Why not B..
A is awkward
C use of nothing is incorrect and awkard
D (in this case anything refers to something other than food, in other words it says that food than dont have color or flavor additive....... or any other thing, which has been sythesize.)
E Similarly incorrect
B. that refers to food
if correct than Management skills are applied lol

The list x,y or z is meant to list additives or bad things that could be added to food, not the food itself.
Hence that has not referrent in the case of B.

Hi Kalpavriksha,
The reason why 'or' should be preferred here instead of 'and' is because any of the directive holds true if any one of the condition is met.. "And" would be correct if all the conditions have to be met..
Eg : Commuters should not touch any baggage, packets or anything that is unsolicited..
"And" will be used when we want to include all the choices.. which is not the case here..
I hope I am clear and your doubt is cleared ... I have the OA of this question and it is D.

How do we determine whether natural foods are foods which do not contain all 3 or either of the 3? The original sentence can be taken either way; no?
