The National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform are a bipartisan panel created for finding ways to reduce the mounting federal debt.
A. are a bipartisan panel created for finding ways to reduce - National Commission will take a singular verb
B. is a bipartisan panel created for finding ways for reducing - we have better options with "to find"
C. are a bipartisan panel created to find ways of reducing - National Commission will take a singular verb
D. is a bipartisan panel created to find ways for reducing - the verbs dont look parallel
E. is a bipartisan panel created to find ways to reduce - Correct

Hi getgyan,

This is a subject verb agreement problem. The subject in this case is "National Commission". The phrase "on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform" is just an add-on, so ignore it. The verb that agrees with the subject should be "is" and not "are". Thus we clearly reject (A) and (C)

Now read B, D and E in parallel. "created to find" is crisper and correct than "created for finding". Reject (B)

Again, go with a crisper option. "find ways for reducing" is incorrect usage.

The correct option is (E).

"of reducing" and "for reducing‘ is considered unidiomatic on the GMAT, the idiomatic expression is "to reduce"

:-D

Absolutely correct. "of reducing" and "for reducing‘ are not the best ways of expressing in GMAT.
