Guys. is it true that if you are from an ultra elite, you are guaranteed interviews with the firms of your choice ??
Does brand name set aside everything else -atleast to get a call ?

I very much doubt so. The schools often employ an internal filter of suitability, student desire (their preferable companies) and various other things. The school wants to maintain its front as a high quality house. Otherwise, you would have about 200 people interviewing at McKinsey, Goldman et al. Which would be crap for the school, the company and its students.

Brand name just gives some schools some historical preferences through alumni, experience of the standard of candidates, etc. You can conceivably get anywhere from any school, just the ease with which it can be performed is somewhat more in your favour from an ultra-elite.

The only guarantee in life is death. An ultra elite will get help you get your foot in the door and increases your odds of getting a call, but it isn't magic pixy dust that just swings open the interview floodgates. At least I can't imagine it's that easy. Ask me again in twelve months or so.

Depends on what you mean. At some schools certain firms will interview anyone who signs up. At other schools there's a bidding system for interviews where you can allocate points based on how badly you want an interview. If you use a large number of your points you can virtually guarantee yourself an interview with your top choice employer. But having used all your points you may be in a bad position for landing interviews for your second and third choice jobs.
