hey guys
1. Can some one clarify how " which " modifies a word / phrase ?
I thought which modifies the immediately preceeding word.
However , the modification in the following question from
OG 12 is quite different
A 's letters to B , which were written over the 1980 's ........
Here which modifies letters , but the word that succeeds which is --- the name of a person- B ..
Reply - Agreed 'which' should refer to the word immediately before it.But remember along with structure, meaning is also important.
By looking at the meaning, which should refer to Letters not B. ALso B is a person. Which cannot refer to persons. Which should only refer to things.2. Another to do with the concept of pronouns..
You are more interesting that her //// she ?
I think her - is an pronoun referring the object , so it should be her..
However I did read somewhere that it is she...
Reply - I also agree with 'her' being the object. Also, i don't know where you read. But please follow the OG when in doubt.
OG is written by GMAT Council. So that is the authority no matters what they say.
Hope this helpsCan someone clarify ?
Thanks a tonne guys... !!
