Interesting score. I got 49, 42 and that was 750. I guess I got lucky.

Exactly the same thought i had...I took the GMAT like 3 months ago and scored a 760...50Q and 42V... I can understand how a 51 is much harder to get than a 50 in Q...guess i was lucky too...

Is it the total score or the individual breakups that matters more in the end...?? Do adcoms view a 51-43-760 better than a 50-42-760....

Nyways..great score buddy...Congratulations...

@eastcoastrocks: Indeed great score. Congratulations.

There is lot of discussion around how SCs in real GMAT are different than what practice material offers. Can you share some experience on that? How much extra time you have to spend?

Sorry folks I am celebrating hard...So could not log in over the weekend...But now here I am, slowly coming down from cloud 9...

@bb & topmba12 - Its not precisely clear how the scoring works. I was actually sad after reading your posts. But after reading wjdgusqls 770 (Q51, V45), I felt lucky...It is what is it is!! :)
I cannot complain :) :) :)

That's a good question about "Do adcoms view a 51-43-760 better than a 50-42-760...." I would love to know this. May be some bb can shed some more light on this.

@piyatiwari, @WishMasterUA @alicegmat, @beatTheVerbal, @aisha12 - Thanks

@schandok - Thanks. RC passages were slightly longer than ones in GMATPrep. Essentially tested the same concepts that are tested in MGMAT. So MGMAT tests are good practice.
As far as SC goes, the questions were very similar to the official questions. I recommend that you do both OG12 and verbal. There were 1-2 questions in which I was a bit confused between 2 answer choices and could not pin point the exact grammatical error in one of the choices but I could catch that this choice changed the intended meaning...definitely the e-GMAT process came in handy here...I know there is a lot of discussion about the change in SC. Personally its not a very drastic change. Just follow your logic...

@gsd85 - Thanks. Very similar in difficulty level. The only problem with GMATPrep is that while taking these tests, you may have already seen those questions earlier. Other than that the test is pretty logical...

@fuxinren - Execution needs persistence and self-belief. If you believe your plan is good, then have faith in yourself and continue to execute even if it takes longer than what you had initially thought. Make sure you have the right tools!!

Good luck everyone...:)

Hi congratulations with amazing score!

Could you please provide more feedback on e-gmat? did it help you much?
Could you please explain what do you mean by saying:

I read somewhere on this forum about a divide and rule strategy suggested by egmat.

I read somewhere on this forum about a divide and rule strategy suggested by egmat.

e-gmat was quite helpful. It helped me improve my GMAT score by a good 7-8 points. I really liked their video lessons, basically helped understand the concepts quite well. There were things like parallelism comparison that I learned from MGMAT but understood how and when to apply them effectively for more difficult problems only after doing their course. There were some things in CR such as the bold face, paradox, assumption (negation test) are quite well explained.

One of the biggest pluses is the audio visual part. It makes learning more effective especially for someone like me who has 10 hr workdays. I could hardly read a book for an hr after a day's work but could easily spend 2 hrs on the e-gmat course. All this just made revisions very effective. I did not use their support much but I got fast response to the 3-4 questions I asked. I hope this helps.

The divide and rule strategy is the strategy that I followed. I focused on one section at one time and try and improve on it. I got this at one of the free sessions that e-GMAT offers on mastering GMAT verbal.

Hi,

First of all congrats for your test score.I am giving my second test next month. Does the period of gap between first test and second count to your success?. I prepared well for my first test in spite i was not able to meet up.Is it enough if i do OG alone this time?

I have read MGMAT 8 strategy,Kaplan,princeton review and all famous books for gmat ...

Thank you for your wonderful debrief. I have an urgent question....how much difference did taking a vacation make for you. I only have 1 week left this year and would only like to take it if needed. I need to work on CR (did 6 incorrect in my recent mock). Need decent improvement in this area. Weekends are difficult due to other commitments that I cannot get out of. I have my exam in 20 days so time is of an essence. Please advice.
