Are the word counts in Essay 1 strictly enforced? The reason I ask is because in Essay 1, I am getting 350 words for part a, 250 words for part b, and 300 words for the rest.

On average, the word count is less than 300 words per section. I have tried to cut down my words to make them as concise as possible without losing my message. Is this acceptable?

That is a question for Adcom: admissions@chicagobooth.edu

I personally have just under 10% over for the 3 questions.

The adcom mentioned that they will see the word count for each essay displayed for them by the application. Maybe it matters more to them than it does at other schools.

I remember that, but they also mentioned that a little over is ok; just not a paragraph or paragraphs over.

I just got this from them:

Thank you for submitting your application to Chicago Booth. In keeping with our commitment to transparency in the Admissions process, this email explains what will happen with your application within the next few weeks.

From October 13 to November 10:

This is our primary application evaluation period. During this time you will notice the status of your application periodically changing in our Online Application System . Below is a description of each status:

Submitted

- Once you submit your application online, the status will change to "Submitted." At this time, edits to your application are no longer possible. However, recommendations may be submitted until October 20.
Received

- This means that we've received your materials. Your status may not be changed to "Received" for about two weeks after the application deadline. If your status does not read "Received" by October 27, contact us at admissions@ChicagoBooth.edu
Complete

- This means that all required information has been received and physically placed in your file by the operations team. If your application status doesn't read "Complete" by October 29, please contact us at admissions@ChicagoBooth.edu
Incomplete

- This means that we have not received all of your required information. We'll contact you via email if you are "Incomplete." You can also check which requirements are missing on the Application Status screen in the Online Application System .
The Admissions Committee will begin to release interview invitations on Wednesday, October 27th and will continue this process through Wednesday, November 10th. Look for an email that asks you to check your status via the Online Application System. If your status reads Invite to Interview, the Admissions Committee believes an interview will help us further evaluate your admission credentials. We will provide detailed instructions on scheduling your interview.

If you do not receive an invitation to be interviewed by the mid-decision date (November 10), you will receive your final decision on that date.

From November 10 to December 15:

As soon as you have been invited to interview, you will need to schedule and complete your Admissions interview. All Interviews must be completed by November 30.

After your interview is completed, the Committee will again read your application along with your interview feedback in order to make a final decision.

On December 15th, the Final Decision date, we will release all final decisions at 9:00 am. You may view your status via the Online Application System.

The Admissions team is here to address your questions and concerns. Feel free to reach us at 773.702.7369 or admissions@ChicagoBooth.edu. Good Luck!

Check out Yale's. Succinct and crisp. And the printable app includes all uploaded documents too.

The thing with Booth's application is that it allows copy/paste, which is nice. However, when you copy and paste into text boxes, some of your punctuations turn into question marks, which is a hassle to change back. Allowing for uploading documents creates an easier platform for applicants, most of the time. The uploading automatically turns your document into a PDF file, which basically is a replica of your document, but only in a more secure way. The newly-created PDF file changes absolutely nothing, and can still be viewed.

Interesting. I did not know that about the PDF conversion stuff. In any case, hopefully it's the last time we'll ever use this app interface again :)

We will have a couple more happy moments like this before we hear the final decision. :-D

I get so many informational emails from the schools I've applied to, it would probably take me a while to recognize an interview invitation. The only email that gave me a heart attack was the Kellogg email saying that they'd changed one of the essay questions. Fortunately, the question hadn't changed from what I had already answered.

My greatest fear is that when I use the Gmail Priority Inbox, which I rely on everyday to sort through hundreds of daily emails, interview invites or notifications might get lost in the clutter. I'd probably faint if the 'Importance' algorithm failed on me and made miss some important emails.

Quick question

My application status is "Received".

Recommendations verified by office - No
Official Transcript Received - No

Are we supposed to send in an official transcript? I thought all that is needed to apply is a scanned version of the transcript? Let me know if you guys did differently.

Cheers!

I'm in the same position as you. The email I received after submitting my application on 10/13 said to call them on Friday 10/29 if the status doesn't change from "Received" to "Complete"

Once you are admitted, then you have to send your official transcript.

https://www.chicagobooth.edu/fulltime/admissions/transcripts.aspx

So no, we are not supposed to send in an official transcript.

Wednesday can't come soon enough! But the 2 week release window is going to be the killer...I think I prefer Wharton's 2 release dates.
