Help with choosing a book??? [#permalink] New post 30 May 2012, 10:53
Hi,

I am getting started with the GMAT for the 1st time. My goal is 650. Please let me know which of the following books should I order. I want to start with one so please choose 1. GMAT is adding a new sections called "Integrated Reasoning." Please let me know if these two books do have the new section included in the book. Thanks.

GMAC: The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 12th Edition (Official Guide for the GMAT Review) [Paperback]

Kaplan:Kaplan New GMAT 2012-2013 Premier (Kaplan Gmat Premier Live) [Paperback]

Thank you in advance.

YOu will want to go with the Official Guide 13th edition, not 12th. The OG13 will have the new section. The Kaplan book will be strong, and a good place to start, and should include the new section. I would confirm with Kaplan, or online at Amazon, before purchase. If you have yet to check it out, look at our book reviews: best-gmat-books-118706.html?fl=menu

Is there a certain portion that you are worried about?

I would strongly recommend that you buy the OG 13th Edition in addition to the MGMAT set of 8 strategy guides . For extra quant practice use the GMATCLUB tests and for SC I'd recommend doing the E-GMAT SC course . In my opinion , you don't need to go through more material than this . I'm not a big fan of the Kaplan book , I feel the questions that you see in the Kaplan Book and Kaplan CATs are somewhat different from the official questions . I feel the MGMAT books resemble the Official guides more than Kaplan does.
