Hi Parikshit.

First, let me tell you I'm a 2011 admit, not a 2010 student. But what I can tell you is that I heard almost half the students already had job offers from companies, including top management consulting firms and investment banking corp. Condidering the job market situation and the fact that there is still a semester left, I think this is pretty amazing.

About how this programme compares to 2 years programmes; it depends. The MiM is basically a MBA adapted for people with less than 1 year WE (not including internships). So you can't really compare it to 2 years MBA programmes. About other MSc, I think it depends on the school, the programme itself and your career orientation. But even though MiM is a new programme, the executives and managers I met all agreed on the fact that LBS is the best choice (I had offers from LSE, HEC and ESSEC). The rumors about job placement seem to proove that ;-)

Don't hesitate to ask us more specific questions! Did you get an interview? offer? What's your background?

Hi guillaumeverdier,

Thanks for your reply. I am an admit to the 2011 programme too. By the full fledged 2 year programmes, I was specifically referring to the LSE MSc management programme, from where I have an admit offer as well.
The people you spoke to recommend the LBS programme over that of LSE? Please do let me know what you think of it. It`ll play a big role in helping me decide the course to choose.

Thanks.
Parikshit.

@sauron

If you have offers from both programmes, I think you should already have some idea about which one best fits your expectations. What is your background and what do you want to do after your Masters?

The people I met answered my questions according to my résumé and career projects. LSE might be better for different profiles. I met a headhunter for executives (30+ years of experience... Really prestigious profile), and his advice made me choose LBS MiM over LSE Imex programme. But again, this is a very personal choice.

You can send me a PM if you want to talk about this in details.

Tomorrow is The Day! :) Good luck everyone!

@sauron, I agree with guillaumeverdier. I could only doubt between HEC and LBS, and maybe LBS vs LSE IMEX. I "know" that I would learn more at LBS, that I would prefer the people at LBS, that I would prefer London to a town in the outskirts of Paris, etc. But career-wise I had my doubts (I'm talking here abou the LBS MiM vs. 2 years Grande Ecole MSc HEC programme). Take into account that both lead to a MSc but LSE's 40k and 2 years (one with CEMS, yeah... but that's it really!)

I had my follow up phone interview this morning. It was because my interviewer did not ask me enough questions about my background so they wanted some more information. I honestly don't know what to say about it. It was kind of discouraging. I'm hoping for the best though!

Hey KAS1986,

I don't see any reason for you to be discouraged. The ad-com is interested in you and that is only reason why they have taken extra pains to get to know you better. IMHO, I believe you are one of the stronger candidates in this round with a really diverse background. I would be very much surprised if you do not make it through.

KAS1986, I completely agree with what sgrssr has pointed out. I really don't think there's any reason for you to be discouraged! You are a very strong candidate and you certainly do offer the diversity that LBS seems to be so keen on .

@KAS1986,

I agree with the other posts. They are interested in you, otherwise they would have not called you! Besides, you have a great GMAT score, a very diverse background, your essays must be good in order to have been offered an interview... so just stay calm! :) You are a strong candidate. Moreover, we will find out the outcome tomorrow~~~!

Hey Kitsune,
Just out curiosity, is your username supposed to be the Japanese word for fox or is it something in Spanish? It's been on my mind all this time LOL

@sauron, it is only my opinion! you might have different reasons for reading this MSc, so it is eventually up to you :)

@anner, はいはい! 英語で狐「きつね」の意味はfoxですよ! 日本人ですか日本語を勉強しますか? すげ~ぇ! 二年のうちに習いましたから 私もちょっと出来る!

If it makes anyone feel better, when I was speaking with the Executive Director yesterday she said they're increasing the number of spots from 100 to 150 this year, due to the quantity and caliber of the applicants. I think that's more than enough room for all of us ;)

@KAS1986

You are right. I heard something similar from a current student. She said they are adding one more STREAM to both MBA and MIM this year :) .

So in a way , it will be 2 streams of 75 students each, rather than one batch of 100.They currently have 4 streams in the MBA Program.
