Marianne is a professional chess player who hums audibly while playing her matches, thereby distracting her opponents. When ordered by chess officials to cease humming or else be disqualified from professional chess, Marianne protested the order. She argued that since she was unaware of her humming, her humming was involuntary and that therefore she should not be held responsible for it. I go for D.
The info in answer D likes a missing information which explains why the authority banned Marianne humming while competing. She can control so she can use this action as an advantage to distract the competitors.

If Marianne says that she was unaware of her humming and hence it was involuntary then an argument can be made that Marianne can very well learn to notice her humming and control it.
Option D says that.

I completely cannot justify y I choose D after cutting them down to C and D. Can someone give me a proper explanation y it is D, and y not C?

Argument:
she was unaware of her humming, her humming was involuntary
Conclusion
She should not be held responsible for it.
We can undermine the argument if we show that a person can be aware of his involuntary act and he can control that.
C states that pretty clearly states that.
C is correct

It says : " since she was unaware of her humming, her humming was involuntary and that therefore she should not be held responsible for it." Negation must be : " she was aware of her humming" Now from the answer choice match the choice that says Marianne is aware. Only Option D goes.
