Essay 1How do you plan to use the Wharton MBA program to help you achieve your future professional goals? You might consider your past experience, short and long-term goals, and resources available at Wharton. (500 words)
Essay 2Taking into consideration your background – personal, professional, and/or academic – how do you plan to make specific, meaningful contributions to the Wharton community? (400 words)
Required Essay for all ReapplicantsPlease use this space to share with the Admissions Committee how you have reflected and grown since your previous application and discuss any relevant updates to your candidacy (e.g., changes in your professional life, additional coursework, and extracurricular/volunteer engagements). I think one of the more common mistakes is trying to retrofit your application to what you think the school wants instead of genuinely projecting your strengths

My question is w.r.t Admission perspective because I m worried after having 15 yrs of work exp. at hand and applying to full-time MBA at WHARTON for making a pivot to Demography, Industry, and Job Function. Is the WHARTON ADCOMS open to offering a seat to aspirants like me applying at 38 and still be willing to accept considering a younger and highly competitive applicant pool?

Is there any difference between applying R1 or R2? Assuming that we have everything ready for any of them, on which we should focus?

they ask you how much experience you would have when you join the school as part of the application.

you should apply when your application is the strongest imo. For example: if you recently joined a company and want some work ex, then maybe applying in round 2 would make more sense since you would have had enough time to create impact at work.

That’s helpful, thanks! Would you advise someone with a GMAT 760 and 2 years of work ex to apply to Wharton, or would you rather suggest gaining more work ex before going for the application?

I think you might need to work hard to justify why you want to pivot after working in a domain for 15 years. You would definitely be an outlier. Sorry I don’t mean to demotivate you, but maybe an executive MBA might make more sense in your case

It all depends on how you’re selling yourself to the adcom. if your story makes sense to them, they’ll be happy to admit you. You have to present a strong reason for why you are looking for an MBA now and why not Executive MBA

I’ll suggest to wait for atleast a couple of years and when you have your strongest application ready, go for it. They tend to prefer candidates within 4-6 work ex.

If you can show that you’ve created impact and have shown leadership in these two years then you should apply! However, in most cases applying later might have more benefits because you could get a promotion and get more opportunities to create meaningful impact.

So, instead of submitting a weaker app now and then reapplying later, it’s better to give a single perfect shot.
