Hello Ramon,

IMD is indeed looking for atypical profile and as some said complimentary profiles. For example, we have a veterinarian and a fighter pilot in our class this year !
So if you have a good culture&international openness/awareness, business mind set and leadership potential, you ll have your shot.
Also about age, some of us are 26 and some are 36. So if you think IMD is right for you, apply even you are are far from the 32 average.

I had lunch with some people from AdCom this week and they told me that it does not really mean anything if they call you at the beginning of the 3-6 weeks windows or at the end. It just means they want to see you ;-)

One point i would like to make is that i greatly encourage all of those interested to come for a visit on campus. IMD is really different than a lot of others MBA with respect to their "niche" strategy. And if you do not come to see by yourself, it is hard to understand exactly what that means.

Hi Thibaut

I guess I can only blame myself for my results. I believen I rushed through my application. I appeared for GMAT in first week of September, and started working on the application only after I took GMAT. As a result, I had only 3 weeks for applications of both INSEAD and LBS. Also, I feel I could not crack the DNA of schools. International exposure is very important for these schools, and as I read my applications again, I realise I just did not lay enough stress on my international experiences. I was a late starter in this whole B-school application process, and wasn't able to make-up my mind on whether I really want to do an MBA. I therefore never did a proper research on the schools and my fit. However, I now feel this might just be a blessing in disguise. The results of INSEAD and LBS really opened my eyes. Infact, to be honest, I wasn't aware of reputation and strengths of IMD, till someone from my Swiss office discussed it with me. I then attended an information session conducted by a couple of alums, in New Delhi, and got to understand some wonderful aspects of IMD. I infact also asked the alumni at the info session, the reason why IMD is not marketed that much in India, as sometimes, people like me, arent fully aware of such great schools. But I am glad that I got the information at the right time. Since then, I have spoken to 5 IMD alumnis and the school has now become my number 1 choice.

I do hope that I have learnt fom my mistakes and have been able to put my best application across. Infact, the feedback I got from IMD (through Assess Chances) also mentioned the need to highlight the international exposure. Since I haven't stayed/ worked out of my home country, I can't do much about it, though I have tried my best to highlight my interactions with international clients (I have extensively worked and dealt with people from different countries), and with my international colleagues (I work for a Swiss firm and report to a Swiss national). I also am involved from an international non-profit. I just hope this should be sufficient enough.

So hoping for the best for myself and other posters in this forum. :)

The interview dates choice is March 9, 20 and 23.

Those who haven't yet received the call, please do not despair too early. The adcom is just going through the callbacks one by one, so it will take some time!

The adcom staff is off on Wednesday as far as I understand, so they must be resuming the callbacks tomorrow.

Applied for Round 1, hopefully waiting for an interview invitation, and quite honestly very anxious since I've seen IMD started calling already. Makes you wonder.

Only applied to IMD. Experience in Latin America, Africa, US and Europe in for-profit develomepment finance. 640 GMAT. Male, 31 years old. 10 years of experience.

Visited IMD in Sep/2010 and decided at this stage of my life is the only school that would make sense for me for a full time MBA.

Sent the Assess you Chances in December last year and got "Based on the information you provided in the survey, there seems to be a good fit between your profile and the IMD MBA requirements. We encourage you to submit a full application when ready."

Seems like IMD is already closed for this week, unless they work on weekends. Waiting resumes next monday. On Monday I have Oxford Interview. So more things to worry about, this week end.

I finally got the call, I will be coming for the March 23rd interview/assessment!
Could you share your experience with the impromptu presentation? That is something that I am not sure how I will perform. My background is more technical, and I am not sure if I will have enough business background to succeed in the presentation. What if they ask me about a topic I am not well-versed on...? The main reason I am pursuing an MBA is to improve my business skills to combine it with my science background to become an entrepreneur in the bio field... At least, I am good at giving public presentations.

I got called for the interview, with options to go on March 23rd or March 27th. I'm opting for March 27th. Would love to get in touch with others who have also selected the same date and try to have dinner in Lausanne the previous night for some ice-breaking.
