Hey akhilright,

Thanks for reaching out to me and I appreciate your patience with my response.
I like your ambitious goal, and I am going to assume that it is your ultimate or "long-term" goal. In the short-term (immediately upon graduation) you really don't want to startup anything - unless you have done something very, very similar before. Admissions Committees are vary of supposed entrepreneurs because the startup scene is very experiential. So again, if you have not done it (Startup) as of today, don't plan on stating that in your application goals.

In the short-term you really want to go work for a boutique healthcare consulting firm. Within the firm you are probably going to spend the first year or so has more of a generalist. Then after you learn the ropes, you can specialize in a certain area, specifically biotech. You would also be able to do this through more traditional management consulting firm - such as McKinsey, BCG or Bain. Then I imagine that you would be able to transition over to their healthcare practice after establishing yourself within the firm.

Regardless, take a closer look at a few healthcare boutiques, as well as the usual suspects here - https://www.vault.com/wps/portal/usa/ran ... gYear=2013

More data I found on more boutique firms with a concentration in healthcare:
Parthenon Group's Healthcare and Lifesciences practices with offices Boston, San Francisco, London, Mumbai
Kurt Salmon Associates is almost a pure play healthcare firm with offices in New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, LA, Minneapolis, Europe, Asia
Milliman, Inc
Advisory Board Company
IMS Health Incorporated

I think that the good news is that most of these firms have only begun to touch the Indian market. I would suggest contemplating how you could eventually open up or expand each one of these firms presence in India. When an MBA from a top ranked school, your sciences background, and your personal commitment to improving the health care of millions within a developing nation – I see a very compelling candidacy in your profile.

With respect to the GMAT, I certainly hope that you get a 720. I don't think you're competing against the masses. Specifically, you won't be competing against all the computer science, engineering and Tata consultants out there. You have enough differentiation to pull off a 720 and be good with that score.

Other than that, Everything seems to be in good order. Make sure that you are trying to keep up with some type of community involvement. I hope that this community involvement is related to your passion for healthcare, or perhaps education. You know the drill. Don't just show up and hand out crayons. You have to take a leadership position. I know that you are starting for the GMAT and have limited time, but please make the effort.

I respect your background and your potential. If you see the need for a consultant and would like to set up a consultation, please e-mail me at MBA@Amerasiaconsulting.com

Respectfully,
Paul Lanzillotti
