How's everyone doing on the apps? Stressed out? When do you first rounders plan to hit the submit button?

Looks like MIT Sloan app page updated the dates on the side bar of the application page so I am guessing the app will be available very soon.

Quite the short application. Not much busy data filling at all compared to the other schools I am applying to.

Quick note, the "Optional Information" where the Admissions Committee invites you to share anything else you would like us to know about you, in any format, is a text box allowing for 7000 characters which is a lot of extra space.

What do you mean by 'in any format' is a 'text box'. I thought format referred to the medium - a multimedia presentation/a video.

Am I missing something here?

Still can't decide if it's worth applying. They've already filled a bunch of seats from last year's overflowing pool of candidates. I'll probably work on this app last, and if I have time then I'll roll the dice and submit.

Curious where I can find more information about deferred admission from last year to this year? From the MIT class of 2015 thread and the waitlist thread no one had mentioned offers for deferred enrollment.

When filling out the application, the "Optional Information" section is presented as a text box with a 7000 character limit. There is no ability to upload a file like there is for the two essays. I'm also confused because I thought "any format" meant we could upload different types of files.

Who should we contact to clarify this?

Presumably what Jamon is referring to is the fact that 2 years ago, MIT underestimated its yield (the percentage of people who would accept their offers of admission) and ended up significantly overenrolled. They handled it by offering people a guaranteed deferred admission along with a nice discount on tuition.

However, that has no impact on this year. We hadn't heard of any of this happening again this past season. The people who took the deferred admit package will be starting this Fall (2013); it has no impact on anyone who's applying now (to start next Fall, 2014).

If there's other info that we're missing please fill us in, too!

PS: Most schools by policy do not ever grant deferred admission; this was a major exception since it was being offered by the school to fix an 'oops' on their part - they didn't realize how popular they'd become! they've since adjusted their practices, don't think that situation will repeat.

Thanks for the clarification! Glad to know it shouldn't affect this year's applicants (for Fall 2014 matriculation).

You can always ask Admissions - in fact, MIT is having an MBA chat **NOW**! (12noon Eastern time Wed. 8/7). :-D

Here's the link: https://mitmba.askadmissions.net/groupchat/LandingPage.aspx

However, we're betting that they're gonna say, just enter a URL into the Optional Info field if you have something other than text to share.

Re: Sloan (MIT) Class of 2016 Calling all applicants [#permalink]
A few questions regarding the application:

Education and Test section -
1) If our transcript does not provide us with our "Major GPA" or "overall score in your major", should you try and calculate this or leave it blank?

2) If we are not provided with class ranks, do we leave this blank?

Employment Information-
1) Final date of employment (or expected) - For my current job do I just put 08/2014 since this I am hoping to be starting school then, or does that come off presumptuous? Do I leave this blank?

Thanks for the help!
