:) I was just reading through last year's thread to figure this out when your message popped up! It seems the R1 deadline was 24 Oct and the first interview invite (as per sloan-2013-mit-calling-all-applicants-134969-400.html) went our on 4 Dec! So if the same timeframe is to be considered, it should be around first week Nov. Though I met a Sloan admission rep in N.Delhi last week who said they would start sending out invites starting mid-Nov...

I talked to an admission officer last week - he said that the interview invites should go out 4-5 weeks after the deadline. Early-mid November sounds about right.

Any idea how much time gap is there between getting an interview invite and actually attending the interviews?

I received the same email. Also, it looks like interviews will be offered between October and December.

Weird. I never got the email, but I checked my status online and see that my application is complete and being evaluated.

I've gotten emails from MIT before, so I'm not sure why I didn't get this one.

Although, I do remember last year that I never got an email to check my status when I got waitlisted. I just randomly checked the website.

It's already on my safe list. As i mentioned before, I've gotten emails before from Sloan. I'll email MIT on Monday to see what's going on.

Saw some of the videos that people have posted for the optional essay. A couple, I thought, were pretty good.

On the whole, I think the ones I've seen this year are better than last year's

I bitmarked my optional essay link and have been checking it religiously every day this past week - no activity (save my own) thus far.

Is anyone else tracking when/how often adcoms are accessing our optional submission, and if so, any hits yet?

Etta, I've been doing the same - did you submit a Youtube link? If so, Youtube doesn't record a view if the person doesn't finish the video completely. Also, it has only been 6 days after submission... if anything, the optional information might be the very last component they view.

Nope - mine was a PDF in Dropbox linked using bit.ly, so it's per-click tracking rather than completed views. It even tracks what kind of device (mobile or desktop) and from where the link is accessed. Pretty cool. Happy to report back details once (if?!?!) they click in.

I know it hasn't been that long...it just feels like a long time!

I haven't been, but a bunch of people were doing that last year. If you check out last year's "Calling all applicants" thread, you'll see the discussion

Youtube has actually improved the stats feature, so Youtube now records views even if the viewer has not viewed the entire recording. If you click on the stats, you'll see the list of views, the origins of the views and the average duration of views per day.

But, yes, last year, only views where the viewer finished the video completely were recorded.
