Booth (Chicago): Calling all applicants - Class of 2016

Do you by chance how many people are waitlisted & how many rejected?

I am looking for persons, who would like to go to Booth during 11/16-11/18.
I booked hotels through priceline, and with wrong operation, I booked twice, and the reservation is non-refundable.
Is there anyone who need it, the price is 75 USD per night, 194 USD 2nights including tax. The hotel is 3 stars and in the downtown area of Chicago. 5 minutes to red line.

I'm not on here much anymore, but I came across this. If you are in the downtown area and looking to get to school for a visit, I would highly recommend taking the Metra instead of the red line. The Metra station is much closer to Harper Center, and the trip will overall be a much better experience. The route 2 and route 6 buses are also a good choice, though the trip will take longer.

curious -- if your alumnus interviewer tells you explicitly that there is no dress code to the interview, would you still wear full suits? it will take place at a coffee shop.

Better safe than sorry I still think so roll with a full suit. You can always take the jacket off if it feels too formal.

He expressly told you that there is no dress code for the interview. If he/she dings you for following his/her suggestion, then the school is not worth its salt. I don't believe there is a catch to the no dress code statement. But you wouldn't want to go exposing your hairy chest and tattooed biceps at the interview though.

Anyone had his/her interview with an alum yet and can say how it went, tone, etc? Mine's tomorrow AM, so just wondering. I've heard most are pretty conversational but would be interested to hear someone's experience from this year.

Yes, that's my understanding.

Went to the Booth event in NYC. It was better than I expected. Lots of alums were there and Danielle Foster from the Admissions office was very generous with her time.

Also, I found out later that only interview invitees were invited to this event. Had I known that, I could have saved myself some stress last week, since I got the invitation for this event two days before I actually got my interview invitation.

Yes, that is still true. I had specifically asked this in an info session this year.

Interview with alum this AM. Really straightforward. She gave 60 seconds about herself and said the interview would be 30 minutes with 10 minutes at the end for questions. I went over my resume, why MBA, why Booth and then answered two "give me an example of a time..." questions. Those 20 minutes went really fast though. I thought I answered articulately but that there was still more I wanted to cover. Oh well. Obviously, everyone's experience will differ based on alum but just wanted to share mine.

I asked one of the admissions officers last night at a Booth event what are some of the most interesting powerpoints or memorable she has seen over the years. She mentioned that she's seen everything--lots of timelines, lots of goofy/silly/funny pictures of applicants. She mentioned that she's seen some where applicants put just one word on each slide....

And she also mentioned two from this year that she remembers. She remembered one where someone who was really into art put examples of her favorite paintings and dissected why she like these paintings in-depth. She also remembered one where someone put up an example of a spreadsheet or some kind of work product and said something like "My job is so boring. This is what I want to escape by going to Booth" or something along those lines.

Anyway, her take-away was that they've seen it all, and that anything can truly work. But she really stressed that a written essay is just fine too (of course that may have been her personal opinion because I know some people have said that Admissions Officers have hinted that the powerpoint is really the way to go.)
